Hey there friends!
It’s been a busy week of reviews here at Karin Emily! If you missed it, I posted an Everlane Shorts guide on Wednesday, and yesterday I updated my Tradlands spring lookbook to include reviews since they are restocking their beloved Nico dress on Monday.
And I have several highly requested reviews coming up in the coming weeks including my Nisolo sandals, the Love & Confuse Duster I get 1,000 questions a day about (I understand why!), and a bunch more.
Basically, you all want me to do more reviews so I’m going to try and do a better job of expanding my review library. And honestly, it will be a lot less work for me long term because then when you ask, I can just point you to my reviews. A win for everyone right?
Let me know if there is something you’ve been wishing I would do a review on, and I’ll get on it! I want my site to be as helpful to you as possible so please don’t be shy in your requests.
Okay with that said, I had planned to do my What’s New at Everlane post for you guys next week because I just posted my shorts guide on Wednesday, but the Tiered Cotton Dress they just released is selling out fast so I wanted to get my review up for you ASAP.
SO yes. I’ve got four mini reviews for you today of my picks from the May/June new releases.
*Updated on 6/22/20 to include a review of the new Smock Dress in the Sandstone Floral print.

Let’s do it.

The Smocked Dress in Sandstone Floral, Size 4
Also comes in Black (there were other colors available, but they sold out) and sizes 00-16
Retails for $88
My thoughts:
ANOTHER smash hit for Everlane! This dress is so, so pretty. I’m sad it’s almost sold out because I know a lot of you won’t be able to get it, but it has become a fast favorite. I really can’t decide if I prefer this dress or the tiered cotton dress below. This dress is slightly more wearable because of the smock top. I just find smocking to be so easy. It’s stretchy, comfy, and you don’t even need a bras.
The smock dress is lined at the skirt (amazing!), and it has pockets!. The straps are the perfect length… nothing more annoying than straps made too big, only to have them flop around. The dress hits me right at the top of my ankles, so it’s slightly longer than a midi dress, but it’s definitely not in maxi dress territory. My only complaint with this dress is that the waistline is not just a tad big higher. Honestly, on most normal and tall torsos this would be perfect, but as a short torso person it just feels a bit long… but honestly I’m just splitting hairs. This dress is beautiful, and it’s the perfect lightweight cotton for super hot days. I recommend!

The Tiered Cotton Dress in White, Size 4
Also comes in Hazel, Black, and sizes 00-16
Retails for $78
My thoughts:
THIS dress. This dress! I have been waiting for Everlane to make a dress I actually want to wear (ha!). I mean, you guys know I’m a fan of their aesthetic (otherwise you wouldn’t see these reviews), but I have always thought their dress selection to be rather poor. But then they released this dress, and it made the wait worth it.
Okay so here’s the details: it’s made of a very lightweight 100% cotton. I was so worried when I took it out of the packaging that it was going to be majorly see through in the white, and it definitely would have been, but it has a skirt liner so no underwear shall be seen! And thankfully, it’s not so see through that you can see a nude bras underneath either. It’s a very floaty, soft material and it’s so dreamy to wear. It does have a good wrinkle to it when you first get it, but it steamed out well and it didn’t wrinkle up too badly with wear (a normal amount). The sleeves are slightly puffed, and its a very roomy sleeve opening so it should fit comfortably on most body types. Finally, the length is that perfect under the knee, but not quite midi length. This gets my giant seal of approval.

First Review:
Selfie Tank in White, Size Small and the Selfie Tee in Sky, Size Small
Comes in Opal, Sky, White, Black (Selfie Tank only), and sizes XXS-XL
Retails for $28 (tank), and $25 (tee)
My thoughts:
I’m lumping these two reviews into one because they are both pretty much the same except for (duh) the sleeve length, and buttons. So let’s get into the material because that’s really the biggest thing you can say about a t-shirt:
If I’m being totally honest with you, I have never been a huge fan of Everlane basics (a.k.a tees/tanks, etc.) because they have all felt too thin, too see through, and they don’t seem to drape well. I have really enjoyed the micro rib series, and up until recently these are the only basics from Everlane I would have recommended to you. However…
this new fine rib fabric they have created is wonderful. It feels like the quality of the micro rib, but it has a very vintage feeling to it, due to the pattern of the ribbing. The fabric is thick enough to lay well, and feel well made, but not so thick that it feels too hot or restricting in warmer weather.
With both the tee, and the tank I would size down for a fitted look. The material is very stretchy, so staying true to size gives you quite a bit of extra room. The tank, especially, you should just size down no matter what because the arm holes run a bit large (although if you have a large bust you may want the room so the buttons don’t stretch open). The tee you can play around with based on the fit you are looking for.
If I were going to get just one of these, I would recommend the tee. I like the tank a lot, but I really love the fit of the tee. It’s my new go to!
Second review:
The D’Orsay Espadrille in Bone, Size 9
Also comes in Black, Caramel, and sizes 5-11
Retails for $98
My thoughts:
This is a good month for Everlane! I really love these Espadrilles. I was actually really pleased to see them in the Affiliate database because I have been looking for a pair of Espadrilles (that check all of my boxes) since last summer. I was looking for a white pair, without a massive wedge, and with really minimal details. And that’s exactly what this pair is! These feel VERY well made. The leather feels like the same super soft leather in the day series, but with a bit more weight to it. The strap is nice and thick so it doesn’t feel cheap, and the raffia doesn’t look tacky.
I also love the little touches like the square toe, and the stitching all around the toe. And big bonus: they have a leather lining in the insole so no walking on pokey raffia! I love the feminine touch these add to my closet, and the fact that they are classic enough to hang around for a long, long time.

The Linen Button Front Crop Tank in Black, Size 4
Comes in sizes 00-16
Retails for $42
My thoughts:
I kind of wish Everlane would have released this tank at the beginning of the summer. It’s made of the same linen material as their linen apron tank, but I actually prefer the simplicity of this tank. Having both of them feels a bit redundant, but for the sake of comparing the two I thought it would be helpful to have a review for you guys. There’s not much to say about the linen from Everlane to be honest: it’s a nice linen, but it’s also not the nicest linen I’ve ever tried (but it’s by far not the worst).
This is honestly just a really basic shell, but the little touches are what make it so nice: the tortoiseshell buttons, the bust darts, the wide hem at the bottom, the seam down the back, the scoop neckline… these all make the tank extra special. It’s honestly the perfect addition to my closet full of high waisted pants.
It runs true to size, but definitely size up if you have a larger bust as there is not a lot of give in the material. And finally, as far as the crop goes: it hits me just above my hips so it does give plenty of coverage, but if you are very long torsoed you’ll have to keep that in mind.

The Linen Short Sleeve Notch Shirt in Canvas, Size 4
Also comes in White, Black, Indigo, Pale Yellow, Royal Blue, and sizes 00-16
Retails for $50
My thoughts:
This is SUCH a lovely top. I’ve been eyeing it for 1 (maybe 2) years after I saw Caroline Rector wearing it in the pale yellow color. I’m not sure why I didn’t take the plunge until now, but as soon as I saw it in this new Canvas color it made me really glad I waited.
I’m not a huge fan of button downs (as I’m sure you’ve noticed), but there is something very relaxed and casual about this top… while also maintaining the spirit of a button down… that makes it much more wearable in my opinion. I do really love the deep lapel, the wide panels on either side of the buttons, at the hem and at the cuff, the notches at the sides of the hem, and the longer sleeve length.
This is the kind of blouse that can be really versatile for anyone who does the 9-5 thing because it looks nice enough to easily dress up, while being casual enough to wear for everyday.
The material has the same feeling as the tanks I mentioned above, but in this version it does feel slightly softer. The blouse hits me at about mid hip so it can work tucked or un-tucked, and I would stay true to size (except for again if you are larger busted in which case I would size up).
What a good roundup of Everlane pieces! Maybe one of my favorites so far. Each one of these pieces are pretty basic (oh okay except the dress), but they are all pieces that I know are going to get a ton of mileage in my closet.
One last thing before I go: if you’ve been trying to comment on my blog, or just navigate around in general, just an FYI that I’ve been consumed with technical difficulties on the back end, and I’ve spent about 10 hours on the phone with my Host over the last few weeks (argh) so… I’m working on it! If you are having a hard time commenting with your questions, feel free to find me on Instagram (@karinemilyblog) or just send me an e-mail at karin@karinemily.com and I will make sure to get back to you!
Fingers crossed everything is ironed out soon!
Until next time,
Oh my gosh those two dresses and those shoes are perfection! I’ve been wanting a pair of espadrilles for a while and these look so wearable and the price is great! This is such a good post xx
Thanks Emma! I love both pieces as well! The espadrilles are so nice… you can’t go wrong!
