I talked about these shorts a few weeks ago on Instagram, but let’s just start off by pointing out the elephant in the room. Yes, they are 90’s mom shorts… my husband may have made a comment that they reminded him of Laura Linney in Jurassic Park when he saw them:

Yeah?!

Does that bother me? Nope! Here’s the thing: I think that all of these years that we’ve been making fun of those 90’s moms, they’ve been laughing right back at us. Why? These shorts are crazy comfortable.

I’d rather do a mom jean any day over daisy dukes.

I also finally delved into the much buzzed about world of Everlane with this Ryan tank. My gray tank finally decided to call it quits so I decided to give this one a try. I’ve heard really good things… for a reason! I’m really loving it so far. It hangs really well and it’s thick enough that I don’t have to layer anything underneath. Plus it’s soft enough that I feel like I’m wearing pajamas (a common theme lately).

What do you guys think? Have you tried anything from Everlane? What are your favorite pieces from them? Also, would you ever wear mom jeans shorts? Let me know in the comments below!

Ok, I am not a capsule wardrobe gal, though I admire those that can do it! Now, regarding “mom jeans”. I am very long waisted and so even “mom jeans” which I prefer to call high waisted jeans are a dream come true when I can find them. I feel they don’t look mom’ish if the color and style to the rest of the jean is current. Between that and the muffin top, I prefer high waisted pants. Also, as we get older (I’m 54) I am rarely tucking in a top so who knows?

I’ve been looking at the Everlane tops and was looking at their stuff just this morning to see if they looked like a good buy. I need some new tees for summer, so glad I found your post. Off to buy an Everlane tee now!

I am addicted to Everlane, probably 1/3 of my closet is from there now. They just have the best simple designs and most affordable ethically made basics. The Ryan tank is one of my favorites, I have it in several colors. The v neck tshirts are fantastic (especially at only $15). Their slim stretch trousers are actually surprising comfortable, the striped heavyweight shirt is great, and I wear the cashmere cardigan at least once a week (I actually found it brand new on ebay for a discounted price).

I really do love their stuff! I’ve been wanting to try both the trousers and the v neck tees, but I’m waiting until my current ones wear out.

i’m a mom jean kind of person all year round . I actually think its quite stylish for a classic day out with the fam . I guess once you become a mom then you go for what works best when running after and around with you kids , not what is considered the most attractive . I most certainly will never be caught in daisy dukes lol (coming from a young 25 yr old 1st time single mom)

I just love your style! While some 90s fashion I could definitely leave behind, there is some great pieces. And like you said, they’re very comfy.

Thanks Jennifer! And I DEFINITELY agree that some things should be left in the 90’s (I’m definitely talking about platform keds haha!)

Karin! Kit’s looking so big! πŸ™‚ and those shorts are utterly fabulous. And they look so. darn. comfy. I’ve never tried the Ryan Tank from Everlane, but, since their Cotton Tank is way too long on me, I’m looking for a potential replacement when this one bites the dust.

I know! I feel like I keep blinking and she’s months older! And thanks! πŸ™‚ You might like the Ryan tank then because it’s not super long (and I have a really short torso).

Haha. I think those shorts look great in that outfit. They may be 90’s mom shorts but they’re making a comeback, right? πŸ˜‰
