I’ve been thinking a lot about consumption lately.
Perhaps it’s the time of year, and just going through another Black Friday. But this season always seems to come with contradicting messages:
Spend more! Buy more! DO more! But slow down, it isn’t really about the presents, focus on your family!
There’s such a push to provide an extravagant Holiday season to yourself and your loved ones. And I find myself getting sucked into that idea more readily than I’d like to.
So I’ve been trying to think about ways to focus on what I already have, and finding contentment with what’s already in front of me.
While I was thinking about all of this consumption, I had an idea to go through my old blog posts and remind myself of outfit combinations I’ve worn in the past. In doing so, I was hoping to reinvigorate my appreciation for those pieces… and guess what?
It worked!
Then I realized that you might also really enjoy seeing outfits that I would still wear and love.
So I chose five outfits I wore last year that I’d wear this year. I still own all of the pieces in each outfit, and I still really love them. The only difference is that, as my style has evolved, I would probably style them a little differently.
Here’s my first example:
This is such a classic outfit that I could wear this over and over again without getting tired of it. I love the black and camel colored pants. The look is still very neutral, but the rich camel color gives a nice kick.
If I were to wear this today I would add a black belt, and some gold jewelry/a watch. Other than that, I still really like how I styled it!
The Details:
- Everlane sweater (Fit true to size)
- Everlane pants (Size down)
- Everlane shoes (Fit true to size. See review here)
Fun fact: this is my most pinned image of all time… so I know you guys like this outfit as much as I do! I really the proportions in this outfit. The sleek jeans, turtleneck, and boots paired with a slouchy sweater make for a tailored, but cozy outfit. The color palette is also still one of my favorites.
The only thing I would do differently now is to, once again, add a belt. Everything else I still love!
The Details:
- Thrifted Madewell turtleneck (Similar one here, or here)
- Everlane black skinny jeans (Gifted. See review here)
- It is Well L.A. cardigan (Size down)
- locket necklace
- brown boots (Gifted. See review here)
I really love this outfit, and can’t wait to wear it again. I still can’t fit into these jeans (I’m 2.5 months postpartum), but they are such a great wash! I hadn’t announced it yet, but I was actually almost 8 weeks pregnant in this photo. I can totally see it in my face ha! That first trimester fatigue is no joke. But I really love the cool tones in this outfit. Now that I’m a blonde, I’m realizing that cool tones suit me a lot better, and I think this outfit is a great example of that.
I honestly wouldn’t change much about this outfit other than to add some jewelry. I’d add a necklace, and perhaps some hoops. But I rather like the simplicity of this outfit so I wouldn’t change much.
The Details:
- Everlane sweater
- Everlane denim (Gifted. See review here)
- Dolce vita boots (size a half size down) + Everlane just released a similar pair
- ABLE earrings
This outfit is one of your favorites as well, and honestly it’s the tunic that steals the show here. I’ve had so many of you pick up this tunic for yourself and it honestly really is a gorgeous piece. It’s not going anywhere anytime soon! It’s a bit tricky with breastfeeding right now, but it’s a piece I plan on wearing on repeat for as long as it will let me. I love it paired with the black jeans + the pops of color in the scarf and clogs.
I know a lot of you would argue with me on this one, but if I were to wear this today I’d probably swap out the scarf for a gray one. This color no longer suits me as well and I like the idea of a more neutral color palette.
The Details:
- Love & Confuse tunic (True to size)
- Everlane denim (Gifted. See review here)
- Troentorp clogs (This style no longer available. Similar here)
- Scarf is hand knit by me
- Socks are basic gray socks I got at Target a few years ago
I think this outfit looks super elegant. The shape of the sweater paired with the earrings give it such a pretty feminine vibe that I don’t normally go for… but yet I really like it. The color palette is really nice as well. I’m super into a “monochrome” outfit like this, and these tones are some of my favorite to pair with each other.
I honestly wouldn’t change a thing about this! MAYBE I would wear my hair up to showcase the earrings and the gorgeous neckline of the blouse but for the most part I love this outfit as it is!
The Details:
- Suunday sweater (No longer available. A couple different options here and here)
- Everlane pants (Size down)
- Nisolo shoes (True to size)
- Earrings (no longer available, but similar here)
So this was fun right? I hope you thought so! I personally found it really refreshing and inspiring to remind myself of outfits I’ve already put together.
What are some of your favorite outfits to repeat?
Until next time,
Karin
