Outfits from this Past Week + Writing Down my Everyday Moments

Hello dear friends! And welcome to the most blessed of all days (i.e. Friday). Ella and I have an overnight date tonight – we’ve got a hotel room and we’re going to eat snacks, order room service, paint our toenails and watch movies until we fall asleep. 🙂 I’m very excited to spend some good quality time with her. This year I made it my goal to do something like this with each of my children at some point in the year, but in a way that suits their personality best. Kit and I will be visiting my parents in Florida for a weekend, Rosie and I are going on a hiking/cabin getaway (she’s my most adventurous one), maybe camping with Gabe – haven’t decided yet, and Ella gets the lazing around weekend because that.is.her.thing ha! Its so fun to start seeing their personalities blossom and plan something that will resonate with their unique selves.

I had a realization as this past year was closing that I wanted to notice my kids more. I’ve been so busy getting them the help they needed (OT, PT, Therapy, etc.) this year that I kind of forgot to see them. Or maybe I can put it this way: I got so wrapped up in the task of motherhood that I forgot to find joy in it. So a goal this year is to notice the everyday, little moments of life, and to enjoy them. And I’ve been doing that by writing down little moments of joy throughout the day. I keep a notebook on my kitchen counter, and any time I catch myself admiring something, enjoying something, being amused by something… I write it down. It can be as little as the sunlight gleaming on the wall in late afternoon, or it can be something cute one of my kids has said. But at the end of the day, right before I go downstairs to turn in for the night, I read through my list and it serves as a reminder that there is so much beauty in the mundane. I think a lot of us (including myself) have been waiting to “live” our lives again these past couple of years, but I’m realizing true living are the small moments lived everyday… writing them down helps me to remember that.

And you know what? These outfit roundups are just part of that cycle really. Maybe some would see them as silly, but they are small moments where I stopped in the middle of my day to capture something that brings me joy… There’s nothing silly about that!

Because I shared snapshots from the weekend on Monday, I’m just sharing outfits from Monday through Thursday so this one is a brief one!
