How to Style White Jeans for Fall

Happy Wednesday friends! Or should I say happy How to Style White Jeans day? Ha! See what I did there? ?

I’m in a good mood this week because it’s a short school week this week for Kit so that means we only need to do 1 day of distance learning this week…

hurrah!

In all honesty, we’re settling into our routine, and it doesn’t feel quite so overwhelming as it did when we first started.

I’ve figured out some ways to keep the other kids occupied while I’m helping Kit, and she’s becoming a bit more independent in navigating around the computer.

So it’s not as bad as I felt like it was at first, and I’m confident we will survive, and we CAN do this for as long as we need to.

Also, God bless the teachers for all the work they are putting in.

ANYWAY.

Today’s post was kind of a fun one for me to style outfits for because I’m actually not that confident in knowing how to style white jeans for fall.

For whatever reasons, I’m never satisfied with the end result.

I think my biggest problem is that I overthink things.

White jeans (or pants), are kind of a stand out piece so if you don’t balance that out well with supporting pieces it can start to feel like too much (or at least for me, and my minimal/neutral loving heart), and I never seem to know when to stop ha!

SO. I thought I would attempt to style my white jeans 3 ways, and bring you in on my final thoughts about each outfit.

And for reference, the white jeans I’ll be styling are these straight leg jeans from Everlane. And bonus! I didn’t realize this when deciding to style them for you guys, but they are currently on sale for $47!

And if you want more specific information on the straight leg jean, I have a review of the medium blue wash in my Everlane denim guide here (there is no difference between the washes).

So with ALL of that said, let’s get into the outfits!

I actually really love how this one turned out! I kept my pitfalls in mind, and kept things super simple with this styling. In the past, I probably would have tucked in the sweater, maybe worn socks with the clogs, maybe a belt… but I went against my instincts, and kept the sweater untucked for a tunic look, and stayed simple with a neutral shoe and bag. I think what makes this outfit work so well, is that while the pieces are all very simple pieces, they each have an interesting aspect to them: the stripes on the sweater, the shape of the clogs and purse… it’s still a very interesting outfit even if it is simple. I also kept the color palette very simple with shades of brown, and white. I will definitely be repeating this outfit!

This outfit is just okay for me. I like it in theory, but I think where I went wrong is in matching my top to the jeans. I don’t like the way the all white middle breaks up the outfit… it feels almost abrupt. I think this would have been much better with a warm beige top, or even a dark camel (darker than the cardigan to add depth). I think this outfit was almost really good, but I probably wouldn’t wear this again without the above mentioned changes.

Another great look! I think I’m finally catching on! I think the cooler tones in this look really work together, and the dark tones of the jacket, boots, and bag really play well against the light tones of the jeans, top, and scarf. The difference here (as opposed to the above outfit), is that even though the shirt is light it’s still an oatmeal color so there is some contrast against the jeans. Plus, the texture that the scarf offers breaks up the lighter middle even more. I really, really love this whole outfit, and will repeat it again!

Well that’s all I’ve got for you guys today! This was a good exercise for me, and it made me feel much more confident in styling white jeans for fall. Which look would you wear? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time,

Thanks Leah! My sister recently started a photography business so the lighting is all her (and nature)!

Perfection. Really, so hard to choose. #3 looks very Copenhagen, in that chic yet elusive way.
