I’m typing this while I wait for rice to cook on the stove… because that’s my life at the moment ha!
Since we’ve been home a lot more I’ve been noticing a lot more that needs to get done around the house (hence less time for blogging), and I’ve been decluttering a ton of stuff.
While I’ve dipped my toes in minimalism in the past, I’ve never been a true convert. I’m really good at purging things, but I’m not so good at adding new things in.
At the beginning of March (before everything happened… it seems like so long ago now!), I went to a conference and one of the breakout sessions was on minimalism. I wouldn’t say I learned anything new at the session as I’ve researched it a ton already, but it did inspire me to break that never ending cycle of purge/consume.
I’ll be sharing more about that on here in the coming weeks because I’ve been writing a ton of notes about some safeguards I want to put in place to prevent that cycle, but it’s going to take more than a rushed dinner prep/trying to write a blog post moment to get it all out there for you.
Stay tuned!
The good news for this week of outfits is that I wore most of them! I get really blah feeling when I stay in lounge wear too long, so I’ve been making an effort to get dressed in normal clothes every day and it’s definitely made a big difference in my overall feeling of being motivated throughout the day.
So here’s what I actually wore this week:
I love this little daisy tee from Sezane! It’s exactly like something I owned when I was in 8th grade, and I loved it then too. At different times throughout the day each girl came up to me and said something along the lines of “mommy you have flowers on your shirt? So pretty!” Which of course melted my heart into a puddle. The shirt fits true to size.

I have to be honest: I gave a little chuckle when I put these sandals on for the first time because I could never afford Dr. Martens when they were in style the first time ha! They ARE pretty comfy so I’m happy to have a comfortable option for chasing my kids this summer… Gabe is already trying to crawl, so I’m including him in the equation. 🙂 Size down a full size in these sandals. They run really big, but with the right size I had zero break in issues. Bonus: they are super lightweight even though they look really chunky!

I had this sweater from James Street Co. on my fall wish list after seeing it circulate on Instagram this past fall/winter, so when it went on sale for 40% off, I decided to get it a bit early (this color is sold out now, but the gray option is still 40% off). It IS made of wool, and with my very sensitive skin it’s a tiny bit scratchy so I do have to wear a long sleeve shirt underneath. But with the shirt underneath it doesn’t bother me at all! For reference, lower quality wool usually is unbearable for me even with a long sleeve shirt layered underneath.

These woven sandals were a kind gift from brand new brand Either/Or NYC. They make high quality (they get better with age) handmade sandals in simple, classic styles that can either dress up or down! They also offer their sandals at a lower cost than other similar handmade sandals by using a direct to consumer pricing model while still partnering with a small scale factory in Leon Mexico to produce an ethically manufactured product. They offset their carbon shipping footprint, use post-consumer, plastic free packaging, and are working on ways to reduce waste in their supply chain. Being a brand new company, they have decided to be independently financed, and use their savings to grow organically (very different from the traditional investor startup model).
Finally, they have decided to donate $10 from every order in April to City Harvest in NYC, an organization that is working with those effected by job loss due to Covid-19, and regularly work in food rescue/reducing food waste.
I’ve had the opportunity to chat with Paige (the designer/founder) a bit over e-mail and she is such a delight! I really love the company, what they are doing in the ethical fashion marketplace, and hope they find success. Head on over to their website to see more.
The woven sandals in particular truly are high quality. They feel really comfortable, and are easy to walk in. I’ve had zero blisters the few times I’ve worn them already. The foot bed is a bit narrow so if you have wider feet I would size up, but the leather is stretchy so size down if you’re really narrow. I have them in my true size and they are perfect.

This is a really simple outfit, but I love it. If I were going to do uniform dressing, my uniform would definitely be a t-shirt (or sweater), and jeans. A few notes about sizing: with the Levi’s stay true to size, but if you are curvier than I am I would size up. The Zola sandals from M. Gemi are true to size, and should accommodate wide and narrow feet. This photo really doesn’t do justice to how pretty they are in real life. The leather is so rich, but I also love that they are not a super warm cognac.

The shoes I’m wearing are the new day mule from Everlane. I’m not going to say much about them right now because I haven’t had a chance to really wear them a ton (not really getting out of the house right now ha!), but at first glance they are really lovely. As with all of the other day counterparts, they are extremely comfortable and easy to walk in. I do like how simple the design of these is… no bells and whistles really! Just a nice, simple pair of black mules. I also like that they have an almond toe instead of round or pointed which makes them a really classic shape. I’ll keep you posted on how they end up wearing in. Side note: Everlane is running a 25% off sitewide promotion until end of day 4/3.

Whelp! Rice is done so I need to sign off. How is everyone doing? Still in lounge wear? Getting dressed yet? Have a fun/funny story to tell from your quarantine experience?
Let me know in the comments!
Until next time,
Karin
So many cute outfits Karin! I’m jealous of your t-shirt weather! I got a pair of sandals from Either/Or as well they are SO NICE! Love the pair you chose.
Thanks Andrea! I still have to wear a jacket when I’m outside, but I’m not complaining! I can’t wait to see which pair you chose!
