Happy almost weekend friends!
Uff da this has been a rough week if I’m being 100% honest with you guys. We have all been really sick all week (we were tested for Covid, and it came back negative thankfully!), and it’s been so hard to get anything done… and especially to, you know, be a mom and do mom things.
In fact, Kit told me today that she wishes she could be the mom so she could tell everyone what to do, and after I let her know she would also have to cook all the meals, do the dishes, clean the bathroom, change Gabe’s dirty diapers, etc. she recinded her wish with a “that’s okay mom. being 5 is good right now.”
Smart girl.
Anyway… where was I?
Oh! We were gone last weekend visiting David’s parents, and I thought I would do a throwback “what I packed” post. Remember when I used to do those all the time? Remember when I had a reason to pack?
Ha!
Even though I don’t officially do capsule wardrobes anymore, packing is one area where I still carry over the concept and I remain a very minimal packer.
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll have already seen the three outfits I wore while there, and you’ll likely have also noticed that the base is the exact same in all three outfits. I just changed up the tops to freshen things up a bit.
Okay I’ll stop chatting your ear off, here’s what to pack for a summer weekend trip:
You can click on the numbers to shop the pieces I packed. Most of the links used are affiliate links, which means that I will make a commission if you choose to purchase through my links.
Thank you for supporting Karin Emily!
The shorts were gifted, and I have a review of them here
Here’s how I wore each piece:

Well that’s all I’ve got friends! You may have to file this post under “things that will be helpful when quarantine is over,” or perhaps it’s good inspiration for how to use a few pieces and make them stretch over a few days.
Are you a minimal packer? Or do you tend to over pack? Let me know in the comments below!
Until next time,
