The Sweater Dress & Plaid Coat: A Style Match Made in Heaven

Happy Monday my friends! Can you believe Thanksgiving is this week? I’m getting my hair done today so I can be fully prepared for Thanksgiving day. Just kidding! ? I just procrastinated on scheduling my appointment and am doing things last minute per usual. But speaking of Thanksgiving, today’s outfit is definitely very fall inspired and it’d make a great outfit for Thanksgiving day! If you remember my last Thanksgiving outfit post, I have a hard and fast rule that I don’t wear constricting waistbands on a day of eating all the food. Leggings are a great option for a very casual get together, but when you want to get a bit more dressed up a sweater dress is the way to go! It’s still cozy and comfortable, but you don’t have to deal with your jeans getting tighter as the day goes on ha! And there’s no better combo than a sweater dress and plaid coat… it’s an easy, effortless combo that looks perfectly festive.

This sweater dress is so soft and cozy… it’s a great option over leggings and with sneakers too, but I love it paired with some sheer tights and a chunky pair of boots! I love that it’s not too short or long, and the sleeve has a slight balloon shape to them which means this dress is just basic enough to be a style staple indefinitely, but it also feels very current. I always go with my larger size in sweater dresses and this one is no different – I ordered a small.

This coat is fall perfection! I was a little unsure of the yellow and blue colors of the plaid as I’m typically a pretty devoted neutrals fan, but I love that it works like a neutral… while also adding a slight bit of color and interest to my closet. It’s lined and it’s cold weather approved – definitely more of a winter coat than a winter jacket if you know what I mean! I ordered a size small to keep it a bit oversized.

And lastly, these boots are just so good! I love that they kept them all black (save for the white stitches). I do love a black and brown combo, but sometimes I want to keep my tones cool and these boots are perfect for that! They’re also really soft, and took no break in time (as opposed to last year’s version which did). I went with my true size and they fit great even with a pair of chunky socks.

This little bag is also a great staple! You can remove the strap and use it as a clutch or wear it crossbody like I am. It fits a lot too! I had no problem keeping all of my essentials in it, but it’s also small enough that you could slip it into a larger tote and pull it out when needed. It has that wonderful matte looking leather that Madewell does so well, and the strap is adjustable!

These pieces are such great fall staples – I’ve already worn them multiple times, and I can’t wait to get more wear out of them this Holiday season and beyond.

Well that’s all I have for you guys today! I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving week, and are able to enjoy quality time with your family and loved ones.

Until next time,

Karin
