Happy Friday my friends! Today is officially our first day of summer break and I. am. ready. for. it. We’re going to celebrate by taking the kids camping this weekend – it’s our first time trying so wish us luck ha! I’m super excited about it, David is totally dreading it. ? We’ll see who’s feelings are more accurate on Sunday morning.

A couple of weeks ago, I shared a roundup of my favorite denim shorts and today I wanted to share my favorite non denim shorts! I’m a huge fan of both types of shorts, and I reach for both equally depending on the situation!
So because they both get equal love from me I need to take some time to share the other side of the coin. 😉

These shorts have been a favorite of mine for two seasons now, and this is my second colorway (you can see my other pair in my Everlane shorts guide) – but there IS a trick to them! You need to size up (I have them in a 6) to get this more laid back look! They do run true to size, but the extra room in them makes them look a bit more cool (in my opinion of course!). These are really just the perfect shorts: comfy, lightweight but not sheer, and come in the best neutral colors so they go with everything. I like the slightly longer length, and when I’m feeling a shorter look I can cuff them. Definitely take a look at these… you won’t regret it!

Okay these shorts are SO fun, but just a disclaimer that they are not going to be for everyone! They are VERY sheer BUT with a nude pair of underwear you won’t see anything other than the outline of your legs – it really comes down to personal comfort level. I adore them though – the shape is so fun, the pleating detail, and the contrasting button… so good! Plus they are SO lightweight that it literally feels like you’re wearing nothing which makes them super ideal for really hot days. If you love the look, but can’t do the sheer they do have them in black so those might be worth a try! I’m wearing my true size (4).

These shorts are a super affordable option and they are honestly so good! They do come with a tie for the waist to turn them into a true paper bag waist, but I prefer them without the tie. They are made of a really stretchy and lightweight twill like material, and I love the fun details like the slanted pockets and the ruffle waist… plus they are so comfy! I have them in a size 2 so I would say they definitely run big!

These shorts are my favorite black shorts this season! They have such a fun shape and they are super comfortable. I like that they are a pull on style with a dolphin hem, but they look a lot more pulled together than a track short. And I think they are great for dressing down or up! The fabric is really soft, and they feel like you are wearing lounge shorts so you can’t argue with that right?! They run true to size – I have them in an small.

You can tell I have a thing for pull on shorts ha! These Madewell shorts are a BIG favorite for me this year. They are made of a linen blend material so they are great for hot weather, and they have really fun details like the seam down the front. I like that they have a lot of room in the thigh, and the length is a perfect all around good length. They’re pretty opaque as well so you don’t have to worry about what you’re wearing underneath. They run a bit large so I’d size down! I have them in a small, but I could have used an XS.

This is an older set that I got last year, but it’s still available this year (in a slightly different color) and I’m so glad it is! This set is just perfection, but the shorts are one of my favorite things to wear when it gets super hot out. They are perfectly lightweight and the linen is so incredibly soft. They also have the seam detail down the front, and the pockets are nice and deep without adding a bagginess to the thigh area. I’m wearing them in an XS and I would definitely size down.

My last pair that I’m sharing today are definitely the most affordable! I really love these shorts, and honestly the quality is much higher than the price tag! They have a wonderful a-line shape that I love and the paper bag waist with the double snap closure is so good. I also love the cuff details. They do run a bit small so I’d go up to your bigger size – I’m wearing them in a small.
