Two Summer Date Night Looks: Fresh Takes on Classic Pieces

Happy Friday my friends! Did anyone else feel totally thrown off by the long weekend or was that just me? Ha! Ah well. I’m trying to be better about letting each day be it’s own day and not labeling ANY day as good or bad. I used to have this idea of a perfect day in my head, and when it didn’t happen (rarely did it happen!) I would feel like I failed. But I made a promise to myself that I would stop trying to live out an ideal, and I would just start…living.

ANYWAY… speaking of living. 😉

Today I wanted to share two summer date night outfits with you guys! Now that things are opening up again David and I are hoping to be able to get out a little more regularly so I’ve been thinking more about clothing that doesn’t have either of the words lounge or wear in it.

In fact, in general I’ve just been having a bit more fun with my wardrobe and playing around with color, updated silhouettes, and generally just getting out of my comfort zone. And I’ve been loving it! You’ll see that in the outfits I’m sharing today. So enough chatting! Let’s get to my favorite summer date night looks:

*This post is in collaboration with Revolve – all of the pieces in this post were gifted*

Top | Denim | Sandals | Clutch

This outfit is my favorite of the two and it’s 100% because of the bodysuit. I just LOVE the color and the ruching detail… and the sweetheart neckline, and the ties at the sleeve ha! I just love all of it. It’s SUCH a fun touch for any outfit! I love pairing it with these distressed jeans to balance out the sweetness of the top, and I think the snake print sandals add a sexy touch which makes it perfect for date night. The bodysuit is made of a really soft and silky bamboo material, it has a thong bottom with a button closure, and it’s very comfortable! This is my first bodysuit, and I was worried the snaps would be uncomfortable when sitting down, but they definitely aren’t. And I just wore a regular strapless bras underneath and the neckline is high enough that you don’t see it peeking out. I got it in an XS so go down to your smaller size.

The jeans were originally a full length style, but I did cut them off to make them a bit more cropped (just a personal preference!). I love the slouchier fit with the distressing at the knees and I especially love the juxtaposition of a more rugged pair of denim with a sweet top like the bodysuit. I have these in a 26 so take your true size.

The sandals are really fun… but not the most practical ha! They definitely aren’t a pair of shoes you can run in, but I put a little piece of moleskin in the foot bed and the extra grip makes them a lot easier to walk in. And honestly? These are the kind of sandals I’d be wearing to drinks or dinner so there’s not a ton of walking involved. I’d suggest sizing down in these.

Dress | Shoes | Bag

This dress is sooo soft and stretchy! It’s made of a cotton poly mix, and it really is super comfortable (what I like to wear on date nights 😉 ). You’ll definitely need to wear appropriate underwear underneath (I’m wearing seamless shapewear shorts) because it does show underwear lines, but the light rib detail makes it very forgiving. I also love that it doesn’t have a slit because it really gives your body that hourglass effect with the way it hugs all the way down to the calves. So it’s basically a t-shirt dress made sexy! I’m wearing a small.

These heels may be one of my new favorite things! They are so cool (they look exactly like a pair of shoes I had in high school ha!), and they are actually really comfortable! They’re also very easy to walk in. I just love the chunky-ness and the raffia detail paired with the platform. They’re just such a fun, fresh addition to my wardrobe! They run true to size.

So these are my two summer date night looks! I hope you found some date night inspiration. Anyone else super excited to go on a date night? I’m just excited for a good old drinks and dinner date… hopefully soon. What are you most excited to do? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time,

Karin
