I recently was gifted the new Pinafore Dress from Everlane, and my first thought was: wow this is pretty! And then my second thought was: I have nowhere to wear this! Ha! But I thought it was pretty enough, and if I ever DO have events to go to this would be the dress to wear, that I decided to keep it and play around with ways that I can wear it for day time wear… and I think I succeeded! And it was a super simple trick too:
I just layered a t-shirt underneath and grabbed some flat sandals and… casual right?! In fact, I did test out this outfit for a day with my kiddos and it was totally kid friendly. It’s fun, and even necessary, to have event outfits in your closet, but it’s even better when you can wear those pieces more often and give them additional love.

This dress is a really great new release from Everlane – the pinafore style is so fun, and I love the open back! It’s sexy, but subtle and that’s my ideal. It’s made of a very lightweight cotton blend material and it almost feels like poplin, but a bit less “crisp” if that makes sense. The straps are adjustable so you can adjust the height and bustline as much as you want, and you can even use the ties to wrap around your waist if you like a more belted look. And in terms of undergarments, I don’t wear a bras with this and you can’t see anything so it’s totally fine. It’s honestly a really great warm weather piece and I’m happy to have it in my closet! I got it in a size 2, and I’m 5’5″ for height reference.
