Happy party season friends! We got our Christmas tree out and up this past Wednesday and while it’s still bare and I’m not sure when the ornaments will go up, it still feels like everything is just a lot more festive around here.

Now when it comes to reasons to dress up, I’ll admit we’re more of a casual bunch and I don’t usually have a whole lot of fancy Holiday events to attend. BUT there’s something about the special pieces that come out this time of year and this year I’ve resolved to MAKE reasons. So for our little family’s Christmas Eve celebration we’re all going to get dressed up and I’m going to invite our best friends over for a fancy viewing of It’s a Wonderful Life. Because let’s face it, we all have young kids! It’s hard enough to fit in all the must do’s this time of year so adding in little fancy memory building moments is the way to go… AND it’s the perfect excuse to add a little glam piece or two into your closet to pull out and enjoy this time of year.

Sparkles are always super fun, and I’ll have a sparkly outfit to show you guys in a few weeks but I think if you’re like me, and you aren’t attending party after party, something like a classic slip dress is the perfect way to always be ready for whatever Holiday event you have (and then some throughout the rest of the year). The silhouette is timeless and will never go out of style, it’s super chic, looks flattering on everyone, and can be layered in so many different ways. It’s such a versatile piece to have in your closet!

This red version from J. Crew is absolutely stunning and it has so many extra touches that make it so, so special. The length makes it SO chic and the vibrant red crepe is GORGEOUS. I can’t even describe how pretty it is in real life, it just shimmers around you whenever you move. The cut is perfection, I get really annoyed with slip skirts or dresses that don’t do their bias seam well… I don’t know if it’s my sensory issues or what, but if the seam isn’t fitted exactly right, it feels awkward and like it’s catching every time I move my legs. Not this dress, the seam is placed perfectly and it slims across your belly and hips perfectly. I’m 5’5” and I can wear flats with the length, but it does have adjustable straps so you can adjust the length/bust to fit your needs.

Overall, this dress is the perfect piece to add to your Holiday wardrobe, it will carry you for many seasons to come with it’s timeliness and quality – and the color is such a fun extra special way to add a festive touch! And in case you are wondering what I wear underneath, I use these strapless bras exclusively, they are SO good for small chested ladies like myself…they never slip down or wiggle around and the cups fit snug against my chest so there’s no awkward lines underneath my clothes.

I also wear these shape wear shorts, I can’t do anything intense when it comes to shape wear because of my ADHD sensory issues, but these are comfortable and give an excellent amount of smoothing. I don’t need a whole lot in my legs, but I’m actually dealing with a lot of issues with my Diastasis Recti and some painful rib flair so I feel a little more comfortable to have support and smoothing in my stomach area so I don’t look like I’m pregnant. 🙃 And finally, the tights that I picked up at the beginning of fall that I’m REALLY loving is this pair that is super sheer. I like the look of a sheer black for shorter dresses, but for outfits like this it’s nice to have a pair that looks like skin while still keeping you warm.

Well there you have it! My first holiday look! I’m excited to share my sequin look with you guys in a few weeks… I was so excited to open the package when it came and the pieces were even better than I thought they’d be! I hope you all have amazing weekends and that everyone is staying healthy 🥰.

Until next time,

Karin
