I can hardly believe it, but we have actually had a few days recently that have not been blisteringly hot! I mean, the reality check is that it will be almost 100 degrees again by the end of this week, but I’m currently writing this on a day that’s not supposed to reach 70… and I sigh in bliss. I used to love warm weather, and in an alternative reality I still do. I just don’t love sitting out in the hot sun watching my kids play at the park (because we all know you have to get there at 6:00 am to to nab the one bench that’s in the shade). But I digress.
We did spend a glorious evening down at our river beach looking for frogs and mussels a few evenings ago, and it reminded me that summer is, indeed, going to come to an end in only a few short weeks. August is truly something special isn’t it? The days are golden and warm (hot) and there is just that feeling of anticipation in the air. As much as I might complain, it’s one of my favorite months of the year and I’m soaking it in.
Which is why I’m happy to be sharing a look at what I ordered from the Doen pre fall collection with you guys today because if there is one company capable of capturing nostalgia in their clothing, it is Doen. I actually kept it really simple with what I ordered… a few things stood out to me, but the piece that sang at me was the Jana Top. It’s reminiscent of the Jane top, but with slightly more feminine details in the ruffled collar and cuffs. I was tempted to get this one in the white, but at the risk of looking a little too much like a Puritan, I think the black one hits the sweet spot.
Like the Jane blouse, the fabric on the Jana is very sheer and I did need a cami underneath even with a nude bras. But I actually count that as a bonus because it’s extremely easy to tuck in, it layers perfectly under sweaters and coats, but it’s so lightweight you can wear it on hot days. It’s a super versatile top making it a staple in your wardrobe that will go the extra mile. As an added bonus it’s wrinkle resistant, so it goes the extra mile AND it’s low fuss. The Jana is the type of blouse you have forever and I’m so glad it’s been added to my rotation for fall. Now I just need a Pumpkin Spice Latte in hand to drink it with… except hold the coffee cause of my GERD and hold the Pumpkin cause I don’t like Pumpkin flavor. Actually I’ll just have a green tea thanks 🙏
Until next time,
