30 Days of Summer Style Day 10: Little White Dress

This little white dress from Love and Confuse finally arrived at my doorstep, and I couldn’t be more pleased. I knew for this summer I wanted to add a few more easy linen dresses, and I immediately thought of Love and Confuse (for those of you who are new, they are the maker of the black tunic that you all love as much as I do). I am just always so impressed with the brand. Not only do they make beautiful linen pieces, but the price point is actually super affordable for what it is.

I will say though, when I put this dress on I had a moment of hesitation because it’s a bit of a different silhouette than I normally go for… and it’s a bit shorter than I’m used to. I have this running insecurity in my head that my legs are not my best asset and should therefore not be be highlighted. And I would typically view this dress as being unflattering.

But in a moment of female empowerment I decided to remove the word flattering/unflattering from my vocabulary. I’m so over the idea that I should or shouldn’t wear something based on which body part I’m insecure about.

My legs are… legs. They’re fine really. If I take a more objective look at them I realize they are two limbs that get me from point a to point b (they’re struggling a bit lately with that darn pregnancy sciatic nerve… but I digress). If a bit of my cellulite is showing in this dress it doesn’t negate the usefulness of my walking limbs.

So I’m ridding my vocabulary of that word. Instead I’m replacing it with a simple sentence: “Do I feel good in this?”

In this case, yes. I love this dress. It makes me feel good, and I like how it looks. Enough said.

I invite you to do the same… when you’re getting dressed in the morning, change the way you decide if something should stay on your body. Instead of wondering if it flatters you, wonder if it makes you feel good.

Oh and if you’ve been looking for the perfect little white dress, I highly recommend this one!

How do you do so much white with kids? I love white but all my white clothes ends of being in the laundry all the time because of sticky fingers ect. and I can never get it white again! Tips would be lovely 🙂

I think the type of fabric is really important. Linen is super easy to clean, and I’ve found it stays pretty white. Same thing with tencel… cotton is a bit harder so I don’t wear as many investment pieces in white. I also add a bit of oxy clean to my whites, which I know probably isn’t the best thing to use, but it works!
