Hello and happy Monday my friends! I PROMISE we’ll get to our black midi dress chat, but first I need to tell you that I’m feeling pretty darn good today…
because I was able to escape up North (a.k.a. spend time in nature) this weekend sans kids.
I mean, yes I love my kids, but um…
it was needed.
So yes. I’m entering this week feeling much more refreshed than I usually do after a weekend, PLUS the weather forecast here is seriously looking up so I’m just a tad bit giddy.
(Also it’s my birthday month. ? )
I can feel the collective eye roll at this intro so we’ll just keep things moving along and get to the point of today’s post.
You guys know I’ve been partnering with ABLE for a long time now. They are one of my all time favorite ethical brands. Not only do they make high quality products, but they are passionate about ensuring that their employees (which are 95% women!) are being paid fair treatment and compensation. Recently they launched a new business model that allows them to offer more attainable price points on a lot of their denim and clothing pieces (these pieces are 30-40% lower than they used to be!) in the hopes that more people will be able to access and participate in ethical fashion.
On top of the lower price points they have also given me a discount code for you guys to use which will get you an additional 20% off your purchase! Just use code KARIN20 at checkout to take advantage of the additional discount.
SO. Today I thought it would be fun to share with you guys four ways I like to style my black midi dress… which just so happens to be from ABLE. 😉
This post is not sponsored, but the black midi dress was gifted to me as a part of my participation in their affiliate program. I will make a small commission if you choose to use my discount code.
At the very end of this little look book, I’ll do a quick review for you guys of the dress itself so keep reading if you’re curious!

The Dress and Fanny Pack were both gifted from ABLE
I love this dress with a classic jean jacket and white sneakers thrown on with it. It’s super casual, but the dress makes it super cool. Plus, it’s WAY comfier than an pair of jeans. 😉 The fanny pack is also from ABLE so you can use the discount code for that as well!

I really LOVE the way an all black outfit looks, and this one is no exception! The black sweater over top makes the dress a lot more versatile for cooler weather. This would even be really cute with a pair of black tights and boots.

This is a super easy way to wear the dress, and I love the way the long cardigan looks thrown over top of the dress. What makes this work is that the cardigan and dress are the same length so you get one long line from the hem to the neckline. You could easily dress this one up with a pair of heels and a clutch, but I kept it more simple with my sandals and canvas tote bag.

The bag is an older style from Rebecca Minkoff so I linked similar
And this is the quintessential way to wear a black midi dress in warmer weather. I thought it was fun to switch things up a bit with warm cognac accessories instead of keeping it monochrome.
OKAY! Now that you’ve seen the outfits, here are my thoughts on the actual dress:
It’s VERY good quality… the fabric is a midweight fabric, but the cotton blend is very breathable so it won’t be too hot in warmer weather. I love the higher neckline and slits at the side paired with the “muscle tank” look of the sleeves. It makes the dress a little tough while still being very feminine (basically my favorite combo). I’m 5’5″ and you can see that it hits me mid calf so it should work for a variety of heights. It does run a bit small… I got it in a medium (I typically wear an XS/S) because I wanted a straighter silhouette, but if you get it in your true size it will be a bit more form fitting. I really love this dress, and it is an immediate closet staple in my closet!
Well that’s all I’ve got for you guys today! Do you love a black midi dress as much as I do? Make sure to check out ABLE and their new price points. They have so many new arrivals that are really cute!
Let me know in the comments how you like to style your black midi dresses!
Until next time,
Karin
