30 Days of Summer Style: Capsule Wardrobe Edition

I may end up totally regretting this given that it’s summer, I’m pregnant, and a little less motivated than normal these days BUT I have something really fun and exciting I want to do for you guys over the next 30 days!

I plan on sharing every outfit I wear, 7 days a week, for the next 30 days…

and I’m calling it 30 Days of Summer Style!

I’m a little nervous though because this is something that I’ve never done before and I’m not sure how it’s going to go.

If you’ve followed me for awhile then you know that I used to share “daily outfits”, but those were outfits I put together and took photos of in advance. And I’ve also shared weekly outfit roundups for a really long time, but again I was sharing the highlight reel.

This time around I’m going to take a photo of the actual outfit I’m wearing on each day and then I’m going to share it with you in real time.

It’s going to be a good motivator to get dressed every day (ha!), but even if I have a lounge day, I plan on sharing that with you as well.

Eek!

This does mean a few disclaimers are coming your way:

First, blog posts will be up later in the day since I’m sharing each outfit on the actual day that I wear it. I plan to write/shoot everything while the girls are resting in the afternoon, but there may be days when I don’t get to it until after bedtime. I’ll try to be consistent as much as possible, but… bear with me.

Second, there may be days where the best I can do is an iPhone photo (especially on weekends) so the quality of photos may vary. Again, I’ll try to be consistent but… again bear with me.

I think that’s everything I want to let you know! So without further ado, here is outfit number one:

This post was actually saved by girls’ night because all we did during the day was hang out at our friend’s pool.

But tonight, this mama’s going to party it up with my best friend ha! By party it up I mean we’re going to eat tacos and sit at our table for three hours while we catch up. And I could.not.be.more.thrilled.

It’s a bit of a cooler day so I went with the one pair of longer pants I included in my capsule.

This outfit is SO comfy, but it still looks cool and modern. I love the simple base paired with the fun accessories… my ideal way of dressing!

This isn’t a maternity tee, but it’s a really nice boyfriend fit tee that I chose instead of going the traditional maternity route. I looked for an ethical option, but I couldn’t find any that were long enough to work for the rest of my pregnancy.

I DO love the Hatch Collection t-shirts… they are versatile enough to work after pregnancy… but I couldn’t justify spending $88 on one tee. If I were only buying one tee for the season, I would have no issue with that price (knowing it cost that much because it was produced ethically & sustainably), but as I’ve had to purchase a handful of things to get me through this pregnancy it was out of the budget this time around.

If they are in your budget, I definitely recommend checking them out because they look like absolutely beautiful pieces.

But back to the t-shirt in these photos: it’s funny because with my first two pregnancies I reached for more form fitting clothes because I wanted to appear “slimmer” with my bump.

This time around? I just don’t effing care. I have such a different mindset with maternity dressing this time around, and it’s been really refreshing. With the first two, I fought against my growing body by trying to cover and minimize it, but this time I’m just embracing it. I don’t attribute it to a higher level of confidence, but rather a knowing.

I know what my body is capable of, I know that everything is cyclical, I know that it doesn’t matter if I look slim or not.

But also, I know that this is my last bump and I want to enjoy it without spending time focusing on how my body is growing and changing.

All that to say, I’m more keen on wearing baggier, looser fit clothing because it’s what feels good…

a concept I hope to carry with me into my postpartum and beyond months.

More dressing for what feels good, and less concern over “is it flattering?”

Yeah?

I’ll see you tomorrow!
