Hello and happy Monday my dear friends. I hope you had a really lovely weekend and were able to find some rest and relaxation. I was able to a tiny bit, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say my ADHD may have caused some later nights than was ideal 😜. But you know what? That’s okay, because we’re not perfect here, we’re a work in progress so late nights and all we show up and do the best we can right? My daughter is reading this over my shoulder as I type this and you should have seen the side eye I just got 😂. Clearly this is a message I preach often.
It’s been a super long time since I shared a roundup of recent outfits so I thought I’d do that today, but before I do I wanted to have a little chat about finding your persona style and what I think that’s looked like for me in 2023 and what I think it will continue to look like going into 2024. First of all, I’ve finally gotten to a place where I’ve realized that personal style truly is personal. It’s a little bit of this, a little bit of that. Take a bit from here, take a bit from there, etc. I think where we start to muddy the waters a bit and get confused is when there is just too much input coming in, and in our society with all of the technology we have at our disposal we have SO much input available to us at all times. Inspiration is good and it can be helpful, but when we can access inspiration every time we hit a snag or a moment of indecision that’s where we start to run into trouble.
Because by doing that, we’re never giving ourselves the chance to experiment or dig deep with what we really want out of our style so everything becomes sort of regurgitated and a direct copy which kills the creative aspect of our style, or at the very least, the part of our style where we put our own unique spin on things.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that in 2023 I learned how to engage less with outside inspiration and to engage more with my own creativity and it actually made style fun for me again. So it became less about forcing out a personal style and more about expressing what was already innately inside of me.
And to be clear, I don’t think finding inspiration from others is a bad thing, but I do think you should limit yourself. The less you seek out, the more you start to trust yourself.
Okay, that’s all I really want to say about that! Maybe you found that helpful, and maybe you didn’t ha! But here’s a peek at my own personal style as of late:

Outfit Details:
Notes: Link to button down (wearing a 4), shoes run a hare big so size down if you are truly in between sizes otherwise stay true to size. I always sizes up in sweaters so I’ll only tell you if I did not throughout the rest of this post. Jeans run true to size – they are super baggy in the legs, but more fitted in the hips. Link to bag.

Outfit Details:
Notes: wearing an XS in the cardigan, jeans run true to size. Link to shoes (use code 15KARIN to get 15% off your first order)

Outfit Details:
Notes: pants run true to size even though reviews say to size down. I also don’t think the cream are see through at all – they’re lightweight enough to wear in spring, but the wool content would make them tricky for summer. Link to shoes (use code 15KARIN to get 15% off your first order)

Outfit Details:
Notes: wearing a small in the dress. Linking my shoes here (they run true to size)

Outfit Details:
Notes: wearing a medium in my tee. Jeans run true to size (I have a 26). For Sambas, I suggest staying true to size unless you plan to wear the without socks all of the time. Your true size will run a tiny bit big, but with socks they’ll be perfect. My tote was a gift with purchase from Sezane.

Outfit Details:
Notes: my coat is mostly sold out so I’m linking a similar style from the same brand here. Loafers run true to size and are incredibly comfortable – linking them here (use code 15KARIN to save on your first order)

Outfit Details:
Notes: my pants are from luxury brand Brochu Walker so I linked a more affordable option as well that I own in other colors and can vouch for. Both styles run true to size as do my boots.

Outfit Details:
Notes: my coat is an older style from Sezane and no longer available so I linked a similar style that I own in another color that I can vouch for. I wear a small in that coat, which is my normal size for wool coats.

Outfit Details:
Notes: Dress and boots run true to size

Outfit Details:
Notes: everything runs true to size, and the pants come in a ton of different colors including some fun spring colors 😍

Outfit Details:
Notes: jeans run true to size as do boots. I recently found a more recent release from Hereu that is very similar to mine so I linked that as well.
I hope you enjoyed this little peek into your personal style – is this something you’ve figured out yet?
Until next time,
Karin
loving all of the real, vulnerable Karin & looking forward to this season & to see where God leads you.
also, your hair lately has just looked SO exceptionally lovely!
thanks for letting all of us in!
Thank you Mariah! I really appreciate your sweet encouragement! ❤️
I just discovered your blog through Pinterest when I clicked on an old post from 2018. When I went to your home page you looked so different that I had to read a few posts to make sure you were even the same person! My style is definitely changing so I’d be very interested to hear what has influenced your style to move from the linen dress/sweatshirts into your current style. You look great in both eras!
