Two Date Night Outfits with J. Crew

Okay truth time. This year David and I put our kids in a Wednesday night church activity for the sole purpose of getting a date night every week. It started in early September and you wanna know how many dates we’ve gone on? Two. 😑 Most Wednesday nights David drops the kids off and then we just veg next to each other on the couch because we’re both so exhausted. 😆 It’s a sort of pseudo date night that I’m honestly quite happy about!

So as you can imagine, I’m not reaching for fancy date night outfits that often (does a matching PJ set count??). BUT with Valentine’s Day here and my (40th!) birthday coming up it IS nice to have a few outfits in the rotation that I can pull on and feel good in while David and I whine (er wine) and dine.

So for this month’s J. Crew PR picks (and a BIG thank you to their team for making this post possible) I decided to pick out a few pieces that will work for a fancy little date night with my guy.

Outfit Details:

The first thing I chose was this fuzzy cashmere sweater… unfortunately it looks like it’s completely sold out already which is such a bummer! However, if you want to get a similar look with a red sweater, J. Crew cashmere is my favorite all around and they have a red version in the style I usually go for and they also have a really beautiful red cardigan right now that I LOVE.

Outfit Details:

This jacket is perfection. I love everything about it – the length, the lack of hardware, the classic style and the black with white detailing. I especially love that it’s so easy to dress up or down. This outfit would easily transition to day with my Sambas and the jacket left open, it’s a beautiful jacket and it’ll be so great as we transition into warmer weather.

Finally, I chose these heels. This past year I’ve really been enjoying heels for the first time in my life – I always used to think that I didn’t want to wear heels because I wanted to always be ready to run away from harm without heels getting in my way (crazy intrusive ADHD thoughts!). Now that I realize there’s very few reasons I would need to run away from something, I’m happily embracing the sophistication that heels bring to any outfit. 😉

This pair in particular are stunning. I debated between the black patent pair and the brown croc version, but I ultimately realized the black goes with more in my closet. They are super comfortable and the little details are SO good. I love the square toe, the skinny little heel and the sling back paired with an ankle strap. I always size down a half size in J. Crew shoes and these are no different.

So there you have it! A few pieces to mix and match some date night outfits (and beyond 😊). Do you guys have Valentine’s Day plans? David and I don’t have anything scheduled, but we are doing a little getaway in early March so that’ll count! Let me know what you guys are up to!

Until next time,

Karin
