Hot Weather Staples From Madewell

Thanks to Madewell for sponsoring this post!

I think a lot of you can resonate with this sentiment, but it has been SO hot here lately! The kind of hot where the only way to truly get relief from the heat is to either be in a swimming pool, a lake, or a sprinkler… which unfortunately is not something I can do 24/7. Fortunately, over the years I have figured out some tricks for dressing for this swimming through humidity type of weather… wet hair (or a ponytail), minimal makeup, and clothes that feel like they’re barely there.

Madewell is always one of my first places to look for hot weather staples and right now they are having a July 4th Event (runs until the 4th) with 40% off shorts, swim, knits + 25% off everything else (some exclusions) with code SUNSHINE.

Linen has always been a go to fabric for me, and this little white swing dress from Madewell is the perfect piece for this kind of weather. I wore this on a day when it was almost 100 degrees with 80% humidity and it made the heat a lot easier to handle. I sized up in this dress to really play up the a line shape and I just love how it fits so much. I actually gasped when I put it on the first time! It’s such a classic, but paired with these chunky sandals (also from Madewell), it looks really chic.

My version of the straw bag is sold out, so I linked to the other size that’s still available. Unfortunately, this dress has limited stock (still fully stocked in plus sizes though!) so I’ve put together a little edit of some other white dresses from their new in section:

My other go to formula for super hot weather is short shorts and a baggy tee… again as little clothing as possible ha! This is definitely more of my regular go to for just everyday life with my kids. It’s comfortable and easy, but it still looks cute with the color palette. This organic cotton tee has a really nice weight to it, but it’s the perfect hot weather staple because of it’s loose fit and deep scoop neckline. It runs big so I’d size down.

The shorts are a great fit for hot weather – you can roll them up for a bit more leg or leave them unrolled if you like a bit more coverage. They’re lightweight and stretchy and the legs are roomy enough to not feel constricting on hot days. I love the cream color… it’s very trendy right now, but it’s the kind of trend that transcends so you can get years worth of wear out of them. I sized down like I do in all of my Madewell denim.

This denim shirt jacket is too hot to wear here right now (even in the evenings!), but when it does cool down a bit, it will be the perfect piece to throw on over an outfit like this. It runs a bit big so size down if you want it more fitted. I kept my normal size because I like the oversized fit.

Well that’s all I’ve got for you guys today! Hopefully this little roundup gave you some inspo for hot weather dressing. And definitely take advantage of the sale! It’s a great time to stock up on some hot weather staples!

Have a great weekend!

Until next time,

Karin
