I can’t believe how much we are winding down on my summer outfits! This first capsule has gone by so quickly and I feel like I have learned a lot. But… I am ready for a fresh start. I think that is one of the best things about doing a capsule wardrobe: the opportunity to take a fresh breath and start over again.
One area that I still find myself needing to work on is the comparison game that I wrote about in this blog post. I find myself constantly tempted to feel bad about myself based on the success, or the artistry, or the sheer beauty of other bloggers and the fact that I’m not exactly like them! It’s so easy to get caught up in that game. I know that it’s true that there will always be people that do things better than I do, but it’s so hard to remember that when you see someone doing something really well and you wish you could be in their shoes. What I want to be able to do in those situations though, is to look at that person with no jealousy, but only appreciation for what that other person is contributing to the world. We are all different and we all have unique things to bring to the table. I want to be better at affirming and appreciating each persons unique talents instead of wishing I could be just like them. It’s SOOO hard though. I’m the type of person that once I have a goal, I want to achieve it right away without any of the hard work that it takes to get there. Especially if I see someone else who has already achieved my goal. In other words, I quit when things get hard. In so many ways, this capsule method is helping to refine me because it’s something that teaches patience and perseverance. In order to have a successful capsule, you can’t just quit half way through it when it gets hard. I’m hoping this lesson will translate into other areas of my life. Do any of you get caught up in the same thing? I guess this is a work in process right?

I think it is inevitable to wish to be like someone else. But what we have to do is be inspired and happy for them. If you like the way someone is blogging, try to do something they do. Use this opportunity to get closer to who you want to be, instead of being jealous (easier said than done. Agreed). And think of something else : people also look at you and appreciate your work. You’re an inspiration for someone else. Have a good day !
