Today I wanted to share with you a tool that I stumbled upon a month or two ago: Capsules by Cladwell.

I was pretty excited to stumble across this tool because I had been wishing for something exactly like this to help me plan for each capsule.

But I had also been wanting a tool that would help you, my reader, start a capsule successfully.

Capsules by Cladwell was created as a solution to fast fashion. I haven’t used that term very often on my blog, but it basically refers to how quickly clothing moves from the runway into your closet. Capsule wardrobes tend to fight against that tendency by forcing us to slow down and think carefully about what we include in our closet.

To help you in the process of slowing down, the Cladwell team built a site that shows you how to create a simple wardrobe that meets your own personal needs based on your own unique lifestyle.

The tool helps you to check-off the items that you already own, and shows you the holes in your wardrobe so that you can easily figure out what you need to buy.

In other words, it helps you to clear out the clutter and get on with what really matters in life. Something we talk about often here at Truncation.

The Cladwell team believes that we often buy clothes just because they’re cheap or new. Over time, this creates clutter in our homes, hearts and minds. At Capsules, they believe lives can be made better by helping you own less, but loving it more.

They created Cladwell for men and just launched Capsules for women.

Pretty great right?

Here is a preview of how it works:

I have really appreciated this tool because it helps me get everything down “on paper” so that I can view my closet a little more objectively

where was this back in June when I launched my first capsule!?

if you have ever wanted to start a capsule, but are overwhelmed by the process, I think this tool will be perfect for you!

Or if you just want to feel like Cher from Clueless and have your very own virtual closet… #90schild

To sign up, make sure to head on over and get started.

Happy planning!

Until next time,

  1. I was so excited use this when Cladwell emailed me about it in November! We did the men’s wardrobe function for my husband over the summer, and I LOVED it! I was considering just doing the men’s version (I wear a lot of menswear-inspired items, anyways) for awhile. My overwhelming excitement made me even more disappointed when I realized the women’s version was set up differently. I really wanted to love this tool so I spent a ton of time answering all of the questions. In the end, I was still disatisfied with how my suggested capsule turned out. I ended up having to input all of my own suggestions aka build my own capsule from scratch. I agree that seeing the pieces all together defintely has a fun feel to it. But I can’t justify spending $15/season for the service just yet. I emailed Cladwell my suggestions so hopefully, they will make the questionnaire more detailed in future itirations.

    1. Thanks for your honest comment Lauren! I actually appreciate that I could build my capsule from scratch because I felt it gave me more control over the process, but I suppose each person is different!

  2. More and more I keep thinking about my closet and how to simplify it without feeling like I don’t have as many options. But truly sometimes I feel like all the clothing options are more limiting. Need to try this app. – Katy
