I think this blouse is my favorite item in my winter capsule… I know. That’s a bold claim. But I really think it is.
I’ve been wanting the perfect white button down for the longest time and I FINALLY found it.
The thing is, I hate white button downs that are too stiff or fitted… which is about 90% of the white button downs on the market.
Enter this flowy number. It’s soft and LONG (which I love) and drapes so perfectly. I’m in white button down heaven people.
Anyways. Over Thanksgiving we had a little birthday party for Kit.
You guys. If being a good mother was defined by how good of a Pinterest party you throw for your child then I lose by a landslide.
Overall it was pretty anticlimactic.
She wasn’t super into her cupcake because the icing kept sticking to her fingers and she didn’t like that. Oh and right as we put the cupcake down on her tray my phone ran out of storage and my camera wouldn’t focus.
Plus, I may or may not have been under the influence of a certain hormonal fluctuation that happens every month and ended up shedding a few tears…
Good times were had people. Good times were had.
Oh well.
She won’t remember it right?!
I mean we DID have an Elmo balloon and we all wore party hats so there is that.
And before you think I’m feeling sorry for myself, I absolutely am not. To be honest, I’m not that fussed about it. There will be other birthdays that she actually does remember and life is too short to dwell on things like this.
We did end up getting my camera working so I’ll leave you with a roundup of pictures. Enjoy!

How precious! Happy birthday, Kit! 1st birthdays were always anti-climatic around here, too. My youngest cried when we would sing “Happy Birthday” every year until he was 6; then he would proceed to be miserable until it was time to open his presents! Hahaha….. It looks like she liked it at least. 🙂 I love the white top on you. I have been searching high and low for a white top, too, with no luck. I may have to make a trip up to UO.

Pinterest worthy birthday parties are SO overrated! 20 years from now you won’t care about any of that, you’ll just be enjoying the memory of the day- how tiny she was, how cute she looked with cake all over her face and the silly faces she made and you’ll just be thankful. Thankful for the time, thankful for the memories, and thankful for the young woman she’s become. Time flies WAY to fast to worry about making every occasion pinterest worthy!
