Outfit Details:
My Ella sweater coat from J. Crew is pretty much always sold out so I linked to a few similar options. If you can find it secondhand I suggest sizing down! The sneakers run a full size small so I’d size up.
Oh hey there! Thanks for stopping by. 🙂 I don’t know why I’m starting out on such a cheesy note, but I already typed it and I’m not going to delete it.
A couple of blog posts ago I mentioned the possibility of changing things up a bit (already… we’re less than a month into the new year ?), but the more I’ve thought about it the more it makes sense for where I’m at in my closet “journey” at the moment.
I am going to try out a capsule wardrobe again… but more specifically? A progressive capsule wardrobe. The last few months I have purged my closet like crazy, and I’m feeling really good with where my closet is at, but I also kind of think there might be more that I could get rid of.
Enter a progressive capsule wardrobe.
So basically? I’ll wear whatever I want out of the clothes currently in my closet and I’ll record what I wear and add those pieces to my capsule, and at the end of the season I’ll have a better picture of what I actually wore.
This is the perfect solution for those of us who want to keep our closets minimal, but the idea of “pre-picking” our clothing seems overwhelming or not doable.
And I thought it might be helpful for you guys to see one in action.
So I’m going to throw out my original format of two blog posts a week, and I’m just going to share a capsule outfit as many days of the week as I’m able to.
Every time I share an outfit I’ll also share the running list of what’s in my capsule until the end of the season when the finished list will be revealed!
I’m also planning on sharing a monthly rundown of any clothes I’ve purged or added to my wardrobe that month.
This will be a fun experiment…
a fun and insightful experiment! And if this winter version goes well I’ll keep doing it for the rest of the year. It will be really interesting to see where my closet is at after doing this for an entire year.
So yeah! Let’s see how this goes. Knowing that I can easily get overwhelmed, I’m holding this very loosely – some weeks you may get a post Monday through Friday and other weeks not so much.
In order for this to be a sustainable method there will need to be some flexibility involved.
And if anyone wants to join in and do something similar I’d love to hear that you’re doing it too! There are absolutely no rules! Just write down what you wear until the end of the season. Easy enough! Let me know in the comments if you want to join the fun. 🙂
So with all that said, my winter capsule currently stands at:
- Banana Republic Camel cable knit sweater
- Old J. Crew Camel sweater coat
- Agolde Riley Distressed Jeans
- Veja Venturi Sneakers
Until next time,
Karin
