Oh goodness. Another styling fail for me. BUT… there’s light at the end of the tunnel people!
I took these photos back in November with the intent of using them for a winter 10×10 challenge so my “real life” attempt at this outfit (which can be seen on Instagram) went much better.
I think I’ve figured something out about these jeans: they’re better worn as they are meant to be worn.
I know…
They fit so much better and are so much more flattering when worn as midrise instead of high rise. I think I was trying to make them something they were not (hmm… life lesson in the making right there) and they were resisting stubbornly.
So, if I had to do this outfit all over again, I’d wear them slouchy mid rise and just tuck in one side of the flannel.
Not as modern, but definitely more flattering.
Which brings me to an interesting thought. Who are we really dressing for?
I definitely styled it this way because it’s more on trend than to wear them slouchy, but again… who was I dressing for?
And yes, I realize I’m a style blogger so the technical answer to that question is “you.”
But my mission here at Truncation has been to show you real life style not unattainable, need to be a certain, magical size to rock it kind of style. And, correct me if I’m wrong, but I think you, my audience, is here for the former kind of outfits and not the latter.
So I apologize for dressing for some mystical fashion people (who aren’t even looking) instead of for myself and for you.
Oh! And cuffing. I cuffed the heck out of these jeans and it made a huge difference.
Thank you winter 10×10 day six for teaching me such valuable life lessons.
