Styling Everlane Basics: Winter to Spring Transitional Outfits

Oh hey there friends! How’s everyone doing? Things have seemed a lot quieter around here lately for some reason, and I’m really okay with that. Although Januarys always seem to be that way after a busy Holiday season. Usually during January I happily hunker down, enjoy the cold weather and an all around cozy season… but this year all I can think about is spring. I mean, the reason for that is probably fairly obvious… with the pandemic and all of the hanging out at home, warmer weather would allow for a lot more outdoors time which would be a breath of fresh air (har har… pun intended). So while I can’t conjure up warm weather for all of you, I thought it would be fun today to do a winter to spring transitional outfit post (I love doing these!) featuring some of the best Everlane basics. Yeah?

This post is sponsored by Everlane. Thanks to Everlane!

You all know how much I love Everlane basics… in fact, most of the basics in my wardrobe are from Everlane… I love how versatile their basics are, and after trying a bunch of their basics over the years I’ve found some of the very best. So here’s what we’re going to do:

I’m going to style two sets of basics in two different ways: a cold weather look, and a warmer weather look… and then we’re all going to pretend we got accidentally dumped on our own private island, and we’re now wearing our spring Everlane looks in a blissful state of relaxation. K?

Glad you’re on board.

SO here’s look #1:

Trench Coat (S) | Suede Boots (9) | Cashmere Sweater (S) | Light Wash Denim (26) | Nude Flats (9)

These are all items that I’ve tried before, and reviewed in previous posts (check out my Everlane reviews here), but just so you don’t have to sift through my denim guide, I’m wearing a size 26 in the cheekies. 😉 This wash is just the best wash for spring and summer, but I also really love it for colder months as well. They’re the perfect, vintage inspired pair of denim… love ’em!

I also wanted to touch on this cashmere sweater because it’s the best cashmere sweater I’ve tried from Everlane! It’s incredibly soft and has such a pretty boxy (yet flattering) fit. I also really love that it’s a mock neck instead of a turtleneck because I often get overheated in real wool/cashmere turtleneck sweaters. It’s a very light weight knit so it will be great as a stand alone piece for spring weather, but it’s also warm enough for right now (with outerwear of course!). I decided to get out of my comfort zone and go with the Rosewater color, and I’m so glad I did. It’s such a pretty, delicate color… perfect for Spring, and even a great option for Valentine’s Day!

Look #2:

Shop the Looks

All items were gifted

Wool Coat (2) | Black Ankle Boots (9) | Alpaca Sweater (S) | White Skinny Jeans (27) | Heeled Mules (9)

I’ve reviewed almost all of these pieces in the past (in different color ways), so definitely make sure to sift through my Everlane Reviews. I have not reviewed the reknit glove mules however so here you go:

These have actually been on my radar for awhile now, and I’m not sure why I didn’t try them out earlier to be honest, but I’m so glad I finally did! They’re really comfortable… no break in time like you would have with leather, and the rib knit is a really fun style detail. They’re super easy to walk in due to the block heel, and like the glove boot… they really do fit like a glove. I got them in my normal size 9, and they fit perfectly.

Before we close out these reviews, I did want to briefly touch on the white jeans… white skinny jeans can be super tricky, but these are really, really good. You guys know how much I love the authentic stretch skinny jeans (they’re some of the only skinny jeans I’ll wear) so comfort wise they are the same as my other pairs. But what makes these stand out especially is that they are very opaque. So there’s no pocket liners showing through, and you don’t have to be super careful with your underwear. Plus, because they are a bit of a thicker denim, they also give a smoothing effect that I appreciate in white jeans ha! I took them in my normal size 27 (I size up in the Authentic Stretch skinnies), and they fit great.

Well that’s all I’ve got for you guys today! I hope you had as much fun with this post as I did. I love playing around with pieces in my closet, and seeing how I can transition them to the next season. Plus it gets me excited for Spring! Anyone else excited for a little weather warmup? And let me know which look you’d wear in the comments below!

Until next time,

Karin

I love all these looks! Just want to add that I have the mule sandals in leather and they are also incredibly comfortable. It looks like they only have them in bone now but hopefully they’ll release more colors again because those mules are a comfy classic!

That’s great to hear! It’s a really classic shape, and I wouldn’t mind a pair in a cognac or tan color!

Lovely! Can you link to the grey bag you are carrying in the Look #2?

Thanks Lauren! It’s an older bag from Everlane. I think it was called the envelope bag? Maybe you could find it secondhand!
