Fist pump! It’s time to share my spring 2016 capsule wardrobe with you!
Oh my word. I love spring! While I love cold weather and the layering possibilities that come with it, there is something so fresh and exciting about spring.
The air is warmer, the light gets brighter, and if you live in a frozen tundra like I do (that may be a slight over exaggeration. Maybe.) it’s just so dang refreshing.
I had mentioned previously that my winter capsule has been my favorite so far, but you guys… this one just might take the cake.
SO! Let’s break it down shall we?
I ended up with (surprise!) 40 total clothing items including shoes and jackets. If you’ve been around for a bit you know that I take a more flexible approach to how many items I include in my capsules. With that said, somehow I’ve always ended up with forty items. The difference is that this time I included my jackets in that number.
My winter capsule really taught me a lot in regards to how I was putting my capsules together. I’m going to have a little confessional moment here and admit that there were certain clothing items that I was only including because they would look good in a blog post. I know. Judge me all you want. But no more my friends! This time, I got really real with myself and only included clothes that actually make sense with my lifestyle. You’ll notice that it’s a little more casual because… well… stay at home mom.
I added a little bit more color in this capsule. Now that I’m a brunette I’m actually drawn to a little bit more diversity in color. But just a little. I’m still a neutral girl at heart.
You’ll notice a fair amount of basics included in this capsule and a good amount of “upgrades”. As I mentioned previously, I’m making the slow move towards the French Five and so I tried to prioritize my budget on replacing worn out items or upgrading to a higher quality version (I am in the process of selling what I upgraded from).
And finally! Every single item that I bought for this capsule was purchased secondhand. In the images below I have listed where I acquired each new item to help you see how I put it together.
Special thanks to Thred Up and Brass Clothing.

What a beautiful selection! Digging the leather jacket. Pretty amazing that you managed to find so many beautiful items at second hand shops. Can’t wait to see the outfits!
– X Marloes
Thanks Marloes! I was pretty excited to finally find a leather jacket I really love!
Love your picks.
I’m getting excited for my spring capsule. But it’s way too cold here to wear spring clothes. This morning I was still very happy to be wearing my down parka. So the spring capsule has to wait until I can leave the house without it. 🙂
Thanks Kate! I can’t wait to see yours! Hopefully it warms up soon!
I love this! I’ve always wanted a try a capsule wardrobe. Spring is a great time to do it!
You should definitely try it Chelsea!
Yay! I have been waiting for this post! I am so excited about having a Spring/Summer Capsule Wardrobe for the first time! I am working on it still, but I was waiting to see what you had included in yours before I finished it. I love the colors you included and how you included them. I have always been a color person, but I am really falling in love with charcoal gray! Thank you for sharing your wardrobe!

I hope you share it on your blog Erin! I would love to see it! Charcoal gray is one of my favorites! That and light gray. Haha!
Love this wardrobe! Especially those cut out booties from poshmark.
I’m working on my spring capsule this week and I’m planning on using your new updated guide — so, thanks!
Thanks Ali! I hope you find it useful! Make sure to share it on Instagram when you’re done so I can see it!
I like the addition of color. I’m new to the capsule concept and figuring out how it will work for me. Especially for travel.
Thanks Carol! It’s the best for travel! I have a few travel posts that you should check out. Just do a search for travel capsules and they will come up!
Fantastic picks! I love the pops of color and the leather jacket. What a great concept.
Thanks Ruthie!
These are really great pieces for spring! I am really excited for this season.
Thanks Shamira! I am too!
I’m in love with all these pieces. They are so versatile and cute! Hope you have a great week 🙂

Thanks Kristina!
I really should try the capsule wardrobe sometime…I feel like it would help me be a bit more creative with my clothing choices and maybe feel a bit more fashionable. 😉
You definitely should Katie! I definitely have found it helpful!
Awesome selection! Love your style! So much fun and such a great inspiration!
Thank you Chrissy!
Gorgeous wardrobe! My wardrobe has evolved into a capsule-style one because it makes it so much easier for the school run. Lots of casual clothes like yours, but much less stylish!
Thanks Alison! I do love how easy it makes things!
Yay for spring capsules! I adore every piece that you picked. And secondhand shopping is the bomb diggity. Almost all of my clothes that I purchased for my travel capsule were secondhand (or from select ethical companies) Can’t wait to see how you style all of these pieces! Happy spring, Karin! 🙂
Thanks Cassandra! I was reminded how much I enjoy it this time around. 🙂 You inspired me for a couple of my shoes choices. 🙂
haha I love your attitude – a more flexible approach. Its really so true. I try but never get to that magic number lol. Love the collection.
I think the magical number is the one that works for you!
I love the white button down and the white tee shirt… and love those jeans! Great job – such wonderful picks!
Thank you Clare!
I really want to do this! I love a simple wardrobe and I can’t wait to read more of your advice!
I think you should Chris! Let me know how it goes!
Love the chambray tunic and that vest! You’re going to look fab this spring! I need to start checking Thredup again. I loved it when they first started but haven’t bought anything in more than a year.
Thank you Kerry! I have found some great things on Thred Up! Definitely check it out!
That cardigan looks so comfy!!
It is!
I’m excited to see how you style all of these pieces! And **high-five** on the stay-at-home mom style….we don’t have to impress anyone with fancy, blog-worthy clothing. I commend you for keeping it real. But I also don’t blame you for wanting to wear cute clothes just for the photos. We might be moms, but we’re still style-loving woman 🙂
It is such a relief isn’t it? And exactly! I tried to find a good healthy medium of cute clothes that will actually make sense in my lifestyle. 🙂
This is such an awesome idea! Love that all of this is secondhand! Can’t wait to see how you style these pieces for spring.
xo Ashley
Thanks Ashley! It definitely forced me to get creative! 🙂
I love all of your clothing picks! The brown booties and the leather jacket are my favorite items.
Southern Soul
Thanks Brittany! They were two eBay items that I was pretty stoked to win! I’d been looking for both of them for awhile!
I love all of the items you have in your spring capsule. I’m so excited to see how you’ll style everything!
Thank you Crystal! I’m excited to start putting some outfits together!
I love all of your picks! I’m totally a neutral/casual girl and would live in all of these pieces!
Thanks Lexi! Neutrals are my jam! 🙂
Lots of white and gray, but it all looks great, you’ll really be able to make some great outfits with this one. Also, I realized looking at your capsule that you have more clothes in your capsule than I have in my closet… I might need to go shopping. 😉
I’m a big fan of dark and neutral clothes. I love of these items are right up my alley.
Ha! I feel your pain. I had a baby like that once- we were all wet, all the time. Extra clothes, blankets, bags, wipes, nothing helped! Now we have the “pull over NOW!” yell from the back seat, and we’ve had a mostly successful year. Good luck on your trip back and kudos for not letting a little (or a lot of…) vomit slow you down!
OOH! Great use for old tights. I love to recycle old tights (bizarre trait)!! I go to the £1 buy-anything-random-ironmongers for my fake flowers.I also adore your smoking area, how civilised. Being a non-smoker I don't like my house smoky, but it's most uncouth not to have nice facilities for the fag-ash-lils-and-lens amongst us. Most of whom have the best gossip at any given party!
Let’s just fly airplanes like we’ve always done….attached to two strings connected to a handle safely held by some guy in the middle. Who needs technology? Yeah…..right…..
