I’ve been realizing how much lately I struggle with being too routine focused.
What I mean is that I will have a new idea and instead of trying it out or implementing it slowly into my life I say:
“great idea Karin! This is what I’m always doing going forward for ever and ever!”
#faceplant
With style that looks like “oh I like these shoes… okay now I need to change my entire wardrobe so that it fits in with this new shoe aestethic.”
With beauty it looks like “my beauty routine needs to be more simplified… I’m going to throw away all of these products that don’t fall into the simple category.”
With babies it looks like “we went on a walk today at this time and it went super well, now we need to go on a walk at this time for the rest of our days.”
And the cycle repeats. I’m like a dog who catches the scent of a squirrel… any new idea that seems to work has me completely distracted and focusing on that one thing.
But as I’ve become aware of that part of my personality I’m trying to work on being more relaxed in the way I approach things and just let every day be what it is.
And I’m trying to not let every whim change the direction of my life.
Baby steps right people? And maybe acknowledging the fact that today that works, but tomorrow it may not.
Anyway, this week I had several things that I stumbled upon/was reintroduced to that just really inspired me and I wanted to share them with you:
This post by my friend Amy (especially where she talks about needing to retrain our brains to focus on reading a book… something I’m definitely guilty of).
This piece by Jamie & the Jones (it’s on my winter wishlist).
Listening to Edgar Myers on Spotify (his music embodies fall in my opinion)
