This is what happens when your husband is the photographer. 😉
You are all probably aware by now that I’m not naturally a risk taker.
And I’ve talked in previous posts about how important it is to understand your own personal style in order to be successful at a Capsule Wardrobe lifestyle.
I really do believe that.
BUT.
I also think that it is important to take risks with your clothing.
My first and second capsules were very safe.
I was so scared of including something that I wouldn’t end up wearing often that I only included clothing items that I was ABSOLUTELY sure of.
And you know what? I ended up getting pretty bored with my closet.
I mean, don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed what I included, but as I lived with each capsule I ended up getting less and less inspired by my clothing.
By the end of the three months, I couldn’t wait to move on to my next capsule.
Maybe that’s just human nature?
But I would like to get to a point where I’m reluctant to move on to my next capsule.
The ONE risk that I did end up with in my fall capsule was my red shoes.
And I have worn them over, and over, and over.
You know what that taught me?
Risk isn’t always bad.
So for my winter capsule I included more risk: my red jacket, my vest, this hat I’m wearing, and a few others.
And while I’m not getting as much use out of them as my striped tee or gray cardigan, they keep me SO interested in my capsule.
I think the key is to have a healthy balance of safe and risk.
And isn’t that just life? Balance in everything.
What sort of fashion risks have you taken? Color, material, cut? Let me know in the comments below!
Until next time,
