Linen Loungewear: 5 Comfy Outfit Ideas

Truth. It is almost 10:30 p.m. the night before you’re reading this. The twins just stopped causing bedtime trouble maybe 15 minutes ago (did you see my post on bedtime routines? I think I need to read it again for myself ??). and my bedtime is usually around 10:00. SO.

SOOO.

This post is going to be brief and to the point cause this mama is going to be getting the same dang wake up call tomorrow whether or not they fell asleep at 10:30 or 7:30 and yoga and scripture are essential to my ability to handle the demands that will start the minute they see my face (segway to morning routine coming soon so stay tuned!).

It’s a good thing we’re talking about loungewear today because on days where being a mom is just kind of… hands on? more involved? …

hard.

These are the kind of outfits I want to reach for. Comfy yet cute, easy to get around in, and made of washable materials for all of the things preschoolers like to bless us with… we’re talking linen loungewear folks.

So yeah, in the spirit of getting to bed 5 minutes ago, I’m not going to leave commentary below each photo unless I especially want to say something. K?

Just wanted to quickly say that the magic fabric fairies Hayley of Only Child has found to construct this shirt are winning big time. This is the softest cotton shirt I have ever put on my body. This is not an over exaggeration. I’m willing to stay up past my bedtime to tell you this so that’s your witness right there.

    I must say that during this weird periode of staying at home I also choose to dress as comfortable as possible.
    Sometimes this means sweatpants and a simple sweater but today I did dress up a little more wiht a Babaa cadrigan, a linen top and wide leg pants.
    It depends on how I feel.
    I love your lounge wear a lot and you show that comfortable and stylish go together very well.
    Regarding the Riley wide leg pants I have some questions:
    Which colour are you wearing and what do you think about the weight of the linen?
    Is it see through?
    I have ordered several pieces from Not Perfect Linen and I love their quality.
    Last week I ordered for the first time a lovely linen dress from YayaandPony, a UK based etsy shop, and I’m curious to see what their linen is like 🙂

      Hi Martine! Comfy is my top priority as well. I’m wearing the Beige color, and it is a nice mid-weight linen. It says lightweight on their site, but I find it more in between. They are slightly see through, but only if you wear dark colored undergarments. With nude underwear, you can’t see a thing! I hope that helps!

    I’m curious about the duster from Love and Confuse. I, like you, would likely wear it without the belt but wonder how that looks as it has belt loops (although I don’t see them in your pics).

      Hi Lori! The belt loops sit flush to the duster so you can’t see them unless you’re looking for them!

    I am interested in the Love and Confuse duster, and like you I’d likely wear it without the belt. How do you find that as it appears to have belt loops (although I don’t see them on your pics)?

    How are you finding linen washes? I just ordered a lovely linen bedding set, and I would love to buy some linen pieces for my closet, but as much as I’m in the kitchen, garden, uh…yeah. I have a toddler and a first grader, plus three more older kids. Really getting sick of my home clothes, though.

      The reason I wear so much linen is that it washes SO well! You can wash/dry it like normal and it just gets softer and softer with each wash. Plus stains come out easily. It’s perfect for stay at home mom activities!

    So I’ve seen you wear several different types of linen duster/kimono/jacket..I like the Nora (although it resembles a bathrobe) but am wondering which type do you find most versatile in your closet? Which would u recommend for someone (me lol) looking to purchase their first linen “cardigan”? Also that’d be a good linen post, only choose 1 linen garment in each category like duster/coat, top and pants for those like myself starting to purchase that material for clothing ?

      That’s a great post idea! I would definitely suggest the Nora. I find it most versatile because of the length, but that could come down to preference.
