Fall 2017 Capsule Wardrobe Introduction

You guys! The moment is here! My Fall 2017 Capsule Wardrobe is live!

I always know that this whole capsule wardrobe/minimal closet blogging thing is meant for me purely by how excited I get when it’s time to share a new capsule with you.

When I started blogging it was just because I wanted to do a capsule wardrobe and thought it would be fun to have somewhere where I could put all of my thoughts.

I had no idea that sharing photos with my point and shoot camera would have led to this.

I feel really lucky that I get to do this (because I absolutely love blogging) and also make a little money for my family.

And you know what?

There’s something in the air…

I don’t know how else to say it. I know I’ve talked about it before, but I’m just feeling so much better about life.

After three years of being pregnant/dealing with post partum hormones I just feel like I’m in a really good place.

So I just feel like there is something extra special about this capsule. In a weird way it signifies a new beginning, not only for Truncation, but for me.

That may sound like the ramblings of a tired stay at home mom, but I really don’t know how else to describe it.

Plus, I just adore this capsule!

It’s more me than any other capsule I’ve done which means I’m moving in the right direction.

Because capsule wardrobes are supposed to teach us about our style right?

Anyway. Enough rambling… I have a video to share with you guys with even more rambly thoughts and the pieces I chose “in real life”.

Just a disclaimer that I had to film this video before I visited my parents for 10 days, and before I had officially chosen what to have in my capsule so some pieces are missing from the video.

In the past, this “imperfection” would have really bothered me, but now I’m just going with it.

I really have “let go” of so many expectations that I put on myself in the past and it makes me feel 100% happier and more relaxed.

So let’s get into the video before this becomes an ebook:

What do you think? How have your fall capsules come together? What fall clothing are you excited about if you’re not doing a capsule? Let me know in the comments below! I’d love to hear your thoughts.

And stay tuned because in honor of “capsule launch week” here at Truncation I’ve got some super fun stuff planned!

And before you go:

here’s the last fall capsule I did back in 2015.

I have to confess, I’m terrible when it comes to fashion. I don’t have problems pairing things and making an outfit but things like a capsule wardrobe, don’t even know what they are. I will say, I’ve been wanting to create a collection of basics since I just got rid of a lot of “emotional” pieces. Lovely collection!

Well that’s basically a capsule wardrobe! Haha!

Hello from a fellow sustainable fashion lover! I like it that you’ve created a whole capsule from sustainable/ethical brands, that’s not easy! I personally have a real problem with capsules. I love to play with fashion, wearing summer dresses in the winter sometimes. I find a capsule wardrobe too limiting so I just have the “wardrobe”. I think having a capsule wardrobe is nice for someone who doesn’t want to think too much about what they need to wear and can get dressed quickly in the morning.

I totally get what you’re saying Victoria! If you watch my video from a couple of weeks ago (my closet tour), you’ll see that I approach capsule wardrobes a little bit differently in that I keep all of my clothes in my closet, but try to stick to a set number each season (but reach for other pieces if I really want to). 🙂

This is really interesting. I’ve never done a wardrobe capsule before. I think I might try it.

Thanks for sharing this post! I’m really starting to feel inspired to do a closet purge and start living a more minimal lifestyle, and creating a capsule wardrobe is really going to help!

I like your capsule wardrobe. I think the colors are great. I personally would add a little more black, but I just love it!

I love all of these ideas! I’m definitely someone who wears a lot of the same clothes, but I’m still looking for some key pieces.

Great video, Karin! Just love how your capsule flowed and all the beautiful tops! I seem to struggle with cute tops. I’ve recently did my first capsule & like how you narrowed yours down to 40. I keep tweaking mine and norrowing it down. I found some “holes” in the T-shirt area and dressy tops. Seem to be ok on everything else. Since I am in the process of moving out of state, I may wait about 3 months before making a purchase. The climate will be different. Thanks for all you do and just loved seeing your looks!?

I’m so glad you were able to put your first one together! I remember the first one being really challenging. It takes some getting used to for sure. I think that’s wise to wait a bit after you move. Especially with the weather, it will give you some time to really see what you need. Congrats on your move!

I like that you embraced the imperfection. I also may buy a few of the pieces you referred to.

Your capsule wardrobe is so cool and unique! I did a sponsored post on one for a brand and I just cant resign myself to one..ha…I like having lots of variety and lots of clothes..which can be a bad thing…get too disorganized and too many unworn clothes..hope I get converted someday..ha@

I love watching capsule wardrobe videos! Your pieces always flow well together, and I love that you stick to a lighter color palette. That is not something I have seen much in the videos I have watched previously, so thank you for some new inspiration for my capsule!
