What I Actually Wore: Daily Outfits for the Week of 4/16/18

Happy Friday!

Before I can say anything else, I have to tell you that we are dropping Ella and Rosie’s morning naps!! It’s been amazing so far.

They were still taking about an hour nap in the morning, on top of a 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon so I don’t know why I decided to go for it.

With Kit it was super easy to tell, because she started taking two terrible naps every day, but once I dropped the morning nap it totally corrected itself!

But with the twins, I just knew they were developmentally ready, and I had a mama gut feeling that they didn’t need that morning nap anymore. Plus, I wanted a bit more freedom in our day ha!

Monday we had to have them out for their nap, Tuesday we had story time in the morning, and so I just kept going with it! Wednesday I took them out to look at plants during their nap, and today we went on a walk. They both acted a little sleepy during their normal nap time, but only Ella slept for a bit on the car ride home on Wednesday, and neither girls was crabby!

Sweet!

(so many exclamation points in this point you guys, but I’m not apologizing because this is huge!!!!!!!!)

It seriously feels like I have my life back. It’s so weird to go from having one independent toddler (who by the way could nap anywhere… I’m not joking), to being unable to do anything because of two very rigid nap takers. And in our house, nap times are supreme. I figure we’ll have plenty of time in our life to get out and do things, but teaching them to be good nappers is so much more important to me.

But yes! We’ll finally be able to leave the house more than once a week. 🙂

Although, I have to be honest with you: I’m actually kind of happy that we were “stuck” at home so much this past year. It really did teach me a contentment with being a stay at home mom that I don’t think I would have learned otherwise. It also taught me how important it is for the girls to have lots of unstructured play time.

Now that we can leave the house more often, I still don’t think we’ll go out as much as Kit and I did.

But I digress… this was supposed to be a post about my week of outfits.

The weather is finally warming up you guys!! So hopefully next week I’ll be able to show you some more springlike outfits. I saw 60’s multiple times in the forecast!!

So here you go! My daily outfits for the week of 4/16/18

Monday:

What I Actually Wore: Daily Outfits for the Week of 4/16/18

Tee (all proceeds go to the natural resources defense council) | Jeans: Vintage. Similar | Scarf | Earrings

Monday we went grocery shopping as we were bone dry on groceries after the snowmageddon we had over the weekend. Then we had Ella and Rosie’s 15 month appointments so it was a morning full of running errands! Full disclosure: I wore a sweater over this tee at the Dr. appointment because I felt like it wouldn’t be totally appropriate haha! I love it, but I don’t know how often I’ll wear it in public… I’m a bit of a prude. 😉

What I Actually Wore: Daily Outfits for the Week of 4/16/18

Top (Sold Out): Similar | Overalls: Thrifted. Similar | Shoes

I don’t have a Friday outfit to show you because I wore this same outfit on Friday as well. These overalls have been a nice surprise for me… I had them in my mending pile for a super long time. They were too long so I had cut them off at the hem, but I wanted to roll them and then sew the roll in place. I finally got around to it, and I am SO glad I did! They are so, so comfy. Also, this tee is a fun addition to my wardrobe, but honestly? The bell sleeve drives me insane! As a mom, it is just not practical at. all. It falls in everything, but the sleeves are hard to push up. BUT, I love the color, and fit of the top so I plan to cut the bell sleeve, and then sew it into a normal cuff. Yay for repurposing!

Tee | Jacket: Old. Similar. Ethical Option | Denim: Vintage. Similar | Shoes

Goodness I need a haircut! Ha! Looking at these photos makes me realize how grown out my layers are. My hair actually grows insanely fast, which is nice! But it also means short hairstyles are really hard to maintain. As much as I’ve loved the bangs, I think I’m going to grow it out a bit, and get rid of the bangs just so it’s easier to maintain. I’m not sure yet though. We’ll see! The girls and I ventured out to look at some plants for the living room. We got a tall palm a month ago, but it’s already in pretty bad shape. I’m the worst at keeping big plants alive! Anyone have tips for keeping palms alive?

Thursday:

What I Actually Wore- Daily Outfits for the Week of 4-16-18-1

Sweatshirt: Vintage. Similar | Denim | Scarf | Shoes | Initial Necklace | Moon Necklace | Sunglasses

It was finally warm yesterday you guys! We stayed home, but we were able to go out for a long walk. Things are so different than they were last year! Last summer every single time we tried to go on a walk one of the twins ended up screaming the whole time. It was such a discouraging thing for me because it felt like I would never be able to be a normal person again that was able to do normal things. But we did it! Ella and Rosie absolutely loved the walk. They were sitting up looking at everything, and chatting away. It’s crazy how things can seem like they’re never going to get better, and then at some point… they just do.

Well on that note, I hope you guys have a great weekend! I think we’re going to go pick up some paint because we’re going to be painting our upstairs living area/kitchen soon! Yay!

Until next time,

Haha! It definitely was warm! That’s the funny thing about Minnesota springs… it may be warm even if there’s snow that still needs to melt!

Switching to one nap is HUGE – congrats! Parenting is a lot of things, and one of them is taking baby steps towards getting parts of your life back. Enjoy the freedom of morning activities!
