Okay. I know you read that title and just rolled your eyes.
But this is my blog and I’m going to do what I want!!
Just kidding.
In all actuality, I am leaving for New York City TONIGHT!!! Can you tell I’m excited?
One of my best friends and I will be visiting my older sister and another of our best friends and it is going to be three and a half days of bliss.
New York is one of the two places I would move to without hesitation (Denver being the other) and is one of my favorite places on earth.
So in light of the fact that I’m scrambling to get everything ready (and steeling my heart against dreadfully missing my little fam), I thought I would do a completely frivolous post and share with you my top ten favorite movies.
- Emma
- Sense & Sensibility
- Ever After
- Persuasion
- Austenland
- The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
- Pride & Prejudice
- Far from the Madding Crowd
- Colin Firth (dreamy) version of Pride & Prejudice
- Cinderella
I DO think that a person’s favorite movies say a great deal about the person so there you have it… now you know a bit more about me. I’m clearly a romantic who wishes she lived in another time.
What are your favorite movies? Let me know so I can get to know YOU a bit better!
Until next time,
I love The Hours and Lost in Translation. Not sure what that means in terms of personality… ๐
Have a great time in NYC – sounds fabulous!
Haha! I love both of those as well. ๐
All those movies are my top favorites! Another gem is A Little Princess.
I haven’t seen that one in years!!
You’re like me! I LOVE Pride & Prejudice!!
It’s the best!
I haven’t seen many of these, but I did enjoy Pride and Prejudice. I can’t decide on a favorite movie, but I love A Walk to Remember, just about any Disney classic movie [especially The Lion King], and P.S. I Love You. I realize children’s movies are on my list, but they were the movies I watched growing up as a child.
Ooooh, a lot on this list I (sadly) have never seen but would like to. Also I love a Secret Life of Walter Mitty–always inspires travel ๐
And I agree–it’s your blog to do whatever you like! Have a great time in NYC ๐ XOXO
So many favorites thereโฆWalter Mitty made me cry so much I embarrassed my family! I hope you have an amazing time in New York!
I see a theme might hint at a favorite author too. ๐ Great picks! I love all of those types of movies, but I’m also a big fan of certain types of comedies. My all-time favorite movie is Undercover Blues and I also really love Clue.
Sense & Sensibility with Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet is a classic! One of my favorites. Loved Far From The Madding Crowd too, but I liked the book better. Secret Life of Walter Mitty is a delightful film. And Austenland never fails to make me laugh! As much as I love those, though, my top favorites are Roman Holiday, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Count of Monte Cristo, Star Wars : The Empire Strikes Back, and Jane Eyre (the long 2006 mini series). Can’t wait to hear about your trip to New York! I went to NYC when I graduated college and it was one of my favorite trips ever. Hope yours is just as amazing!
Colin Firth really is so dreamy in Pride & Prejudice. I’ve never seen Austenland, Persuasion, and The Madding Crowd so I’ll have to look into those! I have so many favorites, but my top 5 are probably The Departed, Shaun of the Dead, Cinderella Man, 21 Jump Street, and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. And if I had to analyze that list, I would say I am some sort of man-child trapped in a woman’s body. Have fun in NYC!
Hooray! Have such an amazing time in NYC!!! I haven’t seen all the movies on your list, but I do agree that Colin Firth is dreamy. I actually don’t even mind watching Nanny McPhee with my kids because he’s in it. I do love Emma and Cinderella too. I’m a sucker for old romantic comedies and cheesy movies like French Kiss, Only You, and Welcome Home Roxy Carmichal. I also loved That Thing Called Love.
Ah a fellow regency lit fan! My favorite Austen story is Northanger Abbey, the 2007 film with Felicity Jones and JJ Feild (from Austenland!) was great. I love Jane Eyre (my favorite book of all time), both the 2006 BBC mini-series and the 2011 film are fantastic.
Well Karin, Some of my favorites are Casablanca, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Moulin Rouge, Love Actually and the Big Lebowski. It’s really hard for me to pick favorites. I also really liked the Secret Life of Walter Mitty and of course Ever After. And in my opinion Colin Firth is always dreamy. P.S. Love the outfit in the above pics. Nice butt.
Ahhh, just a *slight* Jane Austen fan Karin? Haha, me too. I love almost all of these too. I didn’t like ‘Far from the Madding Crowd’ at all (wierd movie) and I like the book versions of all the Austen’s better than the movies (except maybe Colin, he’s tops). I’m with Celene on ‘A Little Princess’ too, that movie rocked my 8-year-old self’s socks. Hope you enjoyed NY, busting to go there ๐
Although I don’t consider myself a big movie fan (I can never remember actors or movie titles!), I love most of the ones you listed!! I also enjoyed Leap Year (total chick flick me and hubs shamelessly adore), any of the Tom Hank/Meg Ryan films, Anne of Green Gables series, and I know I’m missing a few because can’t remember! Lol
I love #9!! Classic fav of mine since high school. I also like Bridget Jones Diary, Love Actually (gosh I am sounding like such a girl here!), and I rewatched ‘You’ve Got Mail’ recently and it was sooo good. But I do watch a lot of manly movies with my guy, ha! It’s really hard to pick favorites though! Hope your time is amazing. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a tad jealous. ๐
