30 Days of Summer Style Day 17: Black Linen Shorts

I’m just going to come out and say it: I really hate how this outfit came together… and I don’t feel confident wearing it either.

I’m not even really sure why… it just doesn’t feel like me and it makes me feel… bleh. Maybe it’s the black linen shorts? Maybe it’s the length of the top?

So descriptive right? 🙂

Sometimes outfits just don’t come together no matter how much we think they will. And somedays we just don’t feel good no matter what we put on.

But on days like today, I think it’s okay to just wear the mediocre outfit and move on with your day.

Sometimes I think in the pursuit of a minimal closet and finding our personal style we think we’ll get to a point where every outfit we wear is a success.

It’s easy to think that when we’ve had a bad day, we are somehow failing and then it’s super easy to fall back into negative shopping patterns and impulse purchases.

I know that’s how it is for me. But on days like today, I think it’s okay to just wear the mediocre outfit and move on with your day.

In other words, I’m trying to take the power away from the negative outfit and put it back into my overall goals, values, and ideals.

From now on I’m just going to call these days my “whoops!” days and move forward.

30 Days of Summer Style Day 17: Black Linen Shorts

Before I leave you a little housekeeping: I’m leaving for Arizona tomorrow morning and I’ve been going back and forth on how I should handle my daily posts while I’m gone.

Going into the series, knowing about this trip, I originally was planning on still posting every day via my phone. But the more I’ve thought about it, the more I think I just need a relaxing weekend without the pressure of posting.

So what I’m going to do is take Friday through Sunday off while I’m there and then on Monday I’ll share what I packed, and then some photos of how I put outfits together. So basically I’ll be sharing three days of the series in one post.

And on that note, hurrah for a relaxing girls’ weekend! I’m SO looking forward to it.

I’ll see you on Monday!
