AVEENO® Eczema Therapy Collection

I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for AVEENO® Eczema Therapy. I received product samples as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.

Some of you might know that Kit was diagnosed with eczema when she was around four months old. I felt so bad for the poor thing because she was covered in a painful rash from head to toe and no matter what we tried it wouldn’t clear up.

Finally, our pediatrician told us that she had eczema and she gave us a list of products that would work well with her sensitive skin, she suggested using AVEENO® for Babies and I knew I wanted to try it out to see if it would work because I’ve been using regular AVEENO® products for years on my own eczema prone skin.

One of the things that drew me to their products in the first place is the fact that the AVEENO® Brand is known for harnessing the power of active natural ingredients. I’m all about using as few chemicals as possible!

When I was pregnant my eczema was at it’s worst and I LIVED for their oatmeal baths and lotions.

Their products are fragrance-free, hypoallergenic and formulated with soothing ACTIVE NATURALS® Colloidal Oatmeal, which soothed all of my super fun symptoms of eczema: itchiness, roughness, dryness, and irritation.

It’s a real party to have eczema!

When I found out they were launching an AVEENO® Eczema Therapy Collection for both Adults and Babies I was super excited to try it!

I have to be really careful what I put on Kit’s skin especially and I love that the AVEENO® Eczema Therapy Collection was developed with leading Dermatologists and awarded the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance for providing gentle, superior ingredients to soothe skin with eczema.

While the original lotions did a great job I have found that when I use the baby products on Kit and the Adult products on myself as a regular regimen, AVEENO® Eczema Therapy products help break the super fun cycle of irritated skin.

We have been as smooth as a babies bottom since the moment we started using them.

Who doesn’t want that right?

Do any of you or your children have eczema? Have you tried AVEENO®? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time,

I have struggled with eczema my entire life and my son does occasionally. I love Curel’s anti-itch lotion, but I’ve also started using essential oils mixed with coconut oil and Shea butter and it has completely soothed my skin. Like you, I love having a more natural remedy 🙂

Thanks for the tip Mandy! Would you mind sharing your “recipe”? I’ve been wanting to try coconut oil because I’ve heard it works, but I can’t find a universal recipe that seems to work for a lot of people!

I found my original recipe on Pinterest, but it is :
        1/4 cup shea butter
        1/4 cup coconut oil
15 drops lavender essential oil, therapeutic grade only.
5 drops tea tree essential oil, therapeutic grade only.

        Directions:
Fill a saucepan halfway full with water. Heat the water over medium high heat (but do not boil). In a mason jar add the shea butter and the coconut oil. Place mason jar in the saucepan (like a makeshift double boiler) until the oils melt. Remove the mason jar and allow it to cool slightly on the counter before you add the essential oils. It’s okay if the oil is warm when you add the essential oils, but it should not be hot. Mix the essential oil into coconut/shea mixture and put the jar in the fridge to get firm. You can use the eczema cream at this point, but if you’d like more of a “whipped” body butter lotion then put the oil in a kitchen aid stand mixer and mix on high for several minutes until the eczema cream looks like whipped butter. You may have to scrape the sides of the mixer down a few times. Apply liberally to any affected area of the skin.
This cream will liquefy if your house is warm, so you may decide to keep it in the fridge. Keeping your eczema cream cool will also feel good to your little one’s hot inflamed skin.

The recipe can be made with just lavender if that’s all you have on hand. In a really bad eczema flare-up, I have even applied undiluted lavender oil to the area and have almost immediate relief.(I probably wouldn’t do this on baby or young children skin though just in case it’s too strong.)
I did the whipping part too and I love it–it also lasts a surprisingly long time!

We are lucky that neither of our girls have had eczema but we have had other skin rashes and Aveeno works wonders on them!

We use Aveeno lotion, but I haven’t tried the one that’s specific to eczema. I get it intermittently, so I’m definitely trying this!
