I admit: I really enjoyed reintroducing these “what I wore” posts last week. I enjoy sharing them with you, and I hope you like reading them.
And I’m super excited to be sharing them now that the weather is getting a bit cooler. This is one of my favorite times of the year for weather and style. Layers are so fun to work with and everything is so cozy.
My friend Liv was just talking about the ideas of Hygge and lagom in your home, and really that’s what it is about fall. It’s a season full of coziness and warmness… and I love it.
David’s always said I’m in my element when I’m cozy (although I’m not sure what that says about me ha!) so I think my soul just resonates with cozy weather… I think this is why I like rainy days so much.
And speaking of rain: we had a lot of gloomy, rainy days this week and oh! It was food for my soul.
But enough chit chat. Let’s get into my week of real outfits for 8/27-8/31:
:: Outfit formula: T-shirt, jeans, sandals
:: Where I wore it: grocery shopping with the girls.
:: Why I put it together: It’s funny how style cravings can change week to week. Last week I felt in the mood to wear some sort of statement piece every single day. This week, I was craving easy. And not only easy, but a little less structure as well… think pulled together slouchy. So on Monday I pulled out my favorite vintage Levi’s and wore it with my favorite tee casually (and somewhat messily) tucked into the waistband. I also have been craving a simpler color palette so I kept it simple with black and denim blue. Plus! My hair is finally long enough for a pony tail and I am rejoicing! Oh, AND I’ve been in the mood for my old glasses. I’m going with it.

:: Outfit formula: Tank Top, Denim, Heels
:: Where I wore it: Play Place with my girls
:: Why I put it together. I’m sure you noticed, but this is pretty much exactly like yesterday’s outfit. You’ll notice a lot of repeats this week. I felt really good in Monday’s iteration and I wanted to continue those vibes on Tuesday. These jeans are going to get a lot of use this fall/winter! This is the air cami from Everlane, and I REALLY love it. It’s a plain white tank, but the deep V gives it just a little something extra. And again, a simple color combo with white, cognac, and blue. Simple is the theme this week!

:: tank size down :: denim: vintage 501’s. find similar here :: clogs TTS :: earrings
:: Outfit formula: T-Shirt, Wide Leg Pants, Heels
:: Where I wore it: Story time with my girls
:: Why I put it together: after the slouchiness of Monday and Tuesday, I was craving something with a bit more structure… but I still wanted to keep it simple. I love pants like these because you can be wearing the most basic outfit ever and it still looks really interesting. I’ve also come to realize that graphic tee’s really aren’t my thing, but I do love this one. It has a very retro vibe (especially when paired with wide leg pants and clogs) that I dig. These clogs have become a fast favorite for me as well. I had been eyeing a pair of cognac basic clogs for awhile, and I don’t regret the purchase at all. They are so versatile, and I love the extra height they give.
To recreate this look:
:: t-shirt size up two sizes :: pants TTS :: clogs
:: Outfit formula: tank top, denim, sandals
:: Where I wore it: thrift store run after my girls were in bed.
:: Why I put it together: Again. Craving simple and slouchy! I got this tank top after wearing the t-shirt version of this pattern so much. There’s something about this stripe that I adore… it’s not your typical stripe, but that’s kind of why I like it. Funny story about these jeans: they’re from the little boys section at my favorite thrift store. I realized recently that boys vintage denim fit me a bit better than their adult counterpart. So if you’re having trouble finding a good vintage pair, maybe try the boys (or men’s) section? For reference, I wear a size 4 in denim and these are a boys 18. I also wanted to pair this with a nude pair of sandals because black sandals felt like a bit “much.” I think a good outfit requires balance, and the dark on top, light on bottom did the trick. Also: I’ve been craving simple jewelry as well lately. This week I pretty much just wore a simple gold necklace with each outfit.
P.S. Sorry about the quality of these last two photos. We’ve had some dark, overcast days which makes taking good photos difficult.

:: Outfit formula: Sweatshirt, wide leg pants, slides.
:: Where I wore it: Eye Doctor Appointment with Rosie.
:: Why I put it together: First of all… a sweatshirt! I SO loved having to wear a sweatshirt on Friday! It was rainy, and chilly… just the way I like it. I was craving lounge wear, but I had to leave the house for a Dr. appointment so I put on the next best thing. I love this sweatshirt and these pants for that exact reason. They are both incredibly comfortable, but they look structured and cool. I wanted to keep the look somewhat monochromatic so I paired it with these comfy slides. This really is as basic as an outfit can be, but the cut of the clothing makes it look special. I’ve realized that this is the direction I want my closet to go in: easy, comfortable clothing in flattering cuts.
