A Week Long Travel Capsule

Anyone else spend their entire Holiday season traveling?

No? Just me?

Seriously though, we were basically out of town just about as much as we were home in the month of December.

Don’t get me wrong, we enjoyed all of our traveling and spending time with family, but we’re a tad bit tired out.

So! I’ll be spending quite a bit of time at home in my pajamas this week.

No judgement right?

Thankfully, my wardrobe was one thing I didn’t have to think about.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, one of the biggest bonuses of doing a capsule wardrobe is the ease of packing.

I try to follow the rule of thirds when I pack for a trip.

In other words, can I wear each item at least three times?

The picture above is what I packed for our final week of travel. It’s so nice to be able to fit everything into a small bag seeing as we basically have to pack Kit’s entire room every time we travel with her.

The picture below is how I paired each item:

Unfortunately, I didn’t get a lot of pictures of my outfits because we decided to spend our time focusing on family.

BUT I did get some fun pictures of all of us sledding so I thought I would share those with you.

I mean, what’s more fun to look at? Pictures of my outfits? Or adorable pictures of my family sledding?

My sister in law is from China and this was her first time sledding, so naturally I had to include these pictures. 🙂

I can’t refrain from including a dachshund picture. #sorrynotsorry

  1. Great pictures of our family, looks like such a fun time! I traveled a lot over the holidays and managed to do this for my Thanksgiving travel and trip to NYC, but my last trip for Christmas it did not work out. It takes time, which I just ran out of, but it seriously makes packing SO MUCH EASIER! Loved all the looks you put together!

  2. Great pictures! Looks like a fun getaway. This is so smart for packing for a trip. We’re going on a road trip in a couple months, and I’ve got to use these tips. Thank you!

    1. Thanks Shann! There’s never a better time to pack light than on a road trip! How fun! I can’t wait to do a road trip again sometime soon! We’re hoping to go out West this summer and see some of the national parks.

  3. This came at the perfect time! We’re leaving on Saturday for a four day trip to Seattle. I really want to pack light for this trip but that’s more difficult in the winter. Pinning this post to refer back to later!

  4. First off ADORABLE family! I am really looking to the travel capsule because in February my family of six is traveling to Florida and I am hoping we can do it with only one checked bag (darn airline fees) 😉 You are inspiring!
