Spring 2018 Outfit 10: You Win Some you Lose Some

Spring 2018 Outfit 10: You Win Some you Lose Some Spring 2018 Outfit 10: You Win Some you Lose Some

I’m going to be honest with you guys: these shoes may already be moving to the sell pile.

I wanted to get a colorful pair of tennis shoes that weren’t high tops since I wore my yellow converse so much over the winter.

So I thrifted these on eBay, and I really love the way they look.

BUT, they kill my feet! Like cut up, blistered heels every time I’ve worn them.

Has anyone else owned a pair of Vans that needed intense breaking in? I’m willing to allow flats or boots have a breaking in period, but I have very little patience for a pair of sneakers that need breaking in.

I don’t know. Maybe I’m being too hasty?

I think what I’ll do is try to give them some time during this spring capsule and see if they break in, and if they haven’t by June I’ll feel okay about letting them go.

One of the things I love/hate about doing capsule wardrobes is that they make you think so hard about each item of clothing that you have in your wardrobe.

I’ve noticed that there have been a few pieces lately where I purchased them and then was disappointed in the quality, which is a clear sign that I need to do a better job of researching pieces if I’m going to purchase them online. I guess online reviews are there for a reason!

But at the same time, I don’t want to hang onto something that I won’t wear because it physically pains me ha!

How do you guys decide when its time to let go? Do you have a rule of thumb that you follow, or do you just wing it?

Let me know in the comments!

On another note, these jeans that I thrifted back in December have been SO good to me… so to give myself back some perspective: you win some, you lose some.

Oh and just a bit of housekeeping: these next two weeks are super busy so I may have to skip my weekly outfit roundups. I’ll probably be able to do next weeks, but at this point I’m planning on skipping this week. Just an FYI!

Try some moleskin in the back of your vans…… it’s located in the foot care section of your local big box store….it comes in small sheets you can cut to size and has self adhesive on one side… might help with your break in period or permanent. Good luck 🙂

I have this happen a lot with thrifted clothes. I love the look, but the fit isn’t right, especially when I buy online without trying on first. I can’t wear Vans or Converse because neither is comfortable! I don’t really have a rule of thumb in regards to deciding when something doesn’t work. Usually I know immediately or within a few wears whether a piece will work.

In other news, another great look on you! I love the pops of red so hopefully these shoes will become more comfy!!

Feet are funny aren’t they? Haha! Converse are super comfortable on me because of my flat feet, which I think is the exact reason why these rub so badly. I’m going to try the Moleskin idea that Susan mentions below and see what happens!

I love your cardigan! As far as the shoes go, if they take a lot to break in, I won’t hardly wear the shoes. I want them comfortable on purchase. Call me crazy, but I really hate blisters.

I’m exactly the same way Erin! I want to try to give these shoes more of a shot because I really do like them, but I have very little patience for blisters as well!

I had a pair like that once. I used a rolling pin and beat the heck out of the back to break it down. Then I molded it into place around my foot. It solved the problem for me. I enjoy your blog.

I’ve never heard of doing that, but I’ll have to give it a try! Thanks!
