Spring 2018 Capsule Wardrobe

Happy spring time everyone!!

It may still be rather cool here, but I am rebelling and going head first into my spring 2018 capsule!

I’m honestly more excited to share this capsule with you than I have been with any other capsule.

I know I’ve said this before, but I have grown so much over the past year and along with that growth has come a huge shift in perspective and priorities.

In regards to fashion and style, it’s a bit odd but I have almost had a reversion.

For a long time I dressed in a certain way because I felt like my age didn’t suit certain styles and because stores weren’t carrying the clothes I was drawn to. I compared myself to other fashionable women I knew and, without even really realizing it, started copying the way they were dressed.

A lot of those false style ideals I had built up around myself have melted away over the last year (this also applies to much, much more of my life than just style… but we’re talking capsules today so I’ll leave it there).

And then the winter 10×10 completely changed my perspective because it reawakened my love and desire for vintage and thrifting.

I think all of those things melded with the fact that I’m needing to rebuild my capsules give me a unique opportunity to begin a style “awakening”. Sounds funny, but I don’t know how else to put it.

Speaking of needing to rebuild:

There have been several factors that have created a bit of a turnover in my wardrobe as of late. I mentioned some of those reasons in my winter capsule reveal, but another big reason has been weight loss. I plan to talk about that a bit more in an upcoming post, but most of my denim has had to be refreshed and quite a few tops… though I was able to still get away with a lot of my older clothing.

And finally, let’s talk new additions! Most of my new additions were purchased through thrifting. Most of them are current styles, but I was able to find used pieces on eBay and Poshmark (just a side note, but I’m thinking that for my summer capsule I’m going to attempt to add only vintage or me made pieces… we’ll see!).

I didn’t have a huge budget so I took full advantage of eBay auctions!

In total, I added 13 pieces to this capsule. Not great, but not bad either. I’m happy with that number considering the circumstances!

Some of the pieces may be new to you, but they were pieces I purchased while I was pregnant and wasn’t able to fit into last spring.

A lot of the pieces you have seen before!

I definitely wanted to add more color to my capsule as you’ll probably have already noticed and I continued on with the casual theme in the pieces I chose… though I did add in a bit more middle ground (my black jeans, some fancier shoes and more blouses).

I think that’s everything I wanted to share with you!

Though I do want to add one quick thought before I close this out:

I used to think that I would get to this magical place where I would no longer need to ever add anything to my wardrobe… that I would get this perfect wardrobe of only high quality pieces that would fit me forever and would never out.

It seems naive now, but it’s what I thought I was working towards.

I’ve now realized that life is more complicated than that. My wardrobe will ebb and flow simply because life does and so do I.

It’s okay if I have to add things, it’s okay if my style changes, it’s okay if I buy something I regret later.

I’m no longer seeking perfection in my capsules, instead I’m seeking a small wardrobe that works for me.

Okay then! That’s that! Tomorrow I’ll be sharing my first outfit and hopefully it will trigger the heavens to release warm air and sunshine! Fingers crossed…

Would you consider doing a post on how to find things on eBay? I find myself so lost when I try to shop on EBay!

I do have a super old one that I did maybe a couple of years ago? It would be fun to do an updated one though!
