I have to start by saying I’m sorry if you tried to visit my site over the weekend and got redirected to a random site.
My blog was the victim of some malware, but fortunately I was able to get it fixed pretty quickly. This is the part of blogging that scares me though ha! The backend of running a blog can be a little tricky, and I dread the day anything goes wrong.
Thanks to everyone that got in contact with me to let me know what was going on! I was pretty sick last week and so wasn’t paying a lot of attention to things on here.
But it’s a new week, and I’m excited to share today’s post with you!
I plan to do a lot of posts over the next few months about pregnancy style.
It seems like it should be something that’s pretty straightforward, but in a lot of ways it’s actually really not.
One major reason for that is, well, every pregnancy is different. This is my third pregnancy and already I can tell things will be different than my first two pregnancies.
First, I’ll be at my biggest during warmer months whereas both previous pregnancies I was biggest during the winter.
Second, my last pregnancy was a twin pregnancy and that’s a whole other ballgame ha! I’m already realizing just how big I got with that pregnancy and hoping I can get away with a lot less “traditional” maternity styles this time around.
I’m someone that embraces maternity clothing when necessary, but likes to try and make my regular clothes work as long as possible.
I don’t love the idea of investing in clothing I’ll only wear for a few short months, but I also highly value the idea that feeling good during pregnancy is important… and sometimes a good pair of maternity jeans will do that.
But this time around, because I’ll be at my biggest when it’s warm, my goal is to rely on non maternity dresses and jumpsuits as much as possible.
We’ll see. 😉
With that said, I have found that I’ve still had to buy/will buy a few things because I’m lacking in that department. But I’m trying to be mindful in my purchasing so that anything I do buy will be something I can wear when I’m not pregnant anymore.
One of my biggest spring investment pieces this year was this Hackwith jumpsuit (I got it in the black lyocell). I had been looking for a basic black jumpsuit that would work for spring and summer, and I was immediately hooked when I saw this one.
First of all it’s in a really easy fabric that can be layered for warmth, but it’s still light enough to be worn when the weather is warm.
But the biggest bonus is that there’s a lot of room in the front of it for an expanding belly. The waist tie allows for cinching so it’s still really flattering at any shape.
These are the kinds of pieces I’m looking for: versatile, room for growth, but something I’ll want to wear for years to come.
Like I said above, I’m definitely not opposed to maternity clothing and I’m sure I’ll end up picking up some pieces as I get bigger but the more “normal” clothing I can get away with the better!
I am super curious to see how big I’ll get though! In these photos I was about 12 weeks along so I wasn’t showing that much. I’m now 16 weeks and my bump is definitely obvious when I wear tighter clothing, but it still feels really tiny compared to where I was at this point with the twins (obviously).
And on that note, we have an ultrasound on Wednesday and I’m SO excited to find out what we’re having! I’ll keep you guys posted. 😉
How have you handled maternity wear? Do you try to work with what you’ve got or are you team maternity clothes?
I’m wearing the HDH Basics Wide Leg Jumpsuit in Black Lyocell, Size Small, a thrifted turtleneck, and the Troentorp Rockwell Clog Boot in Black (c/o)
Until next time,
Karin
Also, if you’re in the area did you know there’s a room on top of the Guthrie that is entirely yellow? Somehow I didn’t know that, but David and I stumbled upon it and had fun taking some photos. 🙂
