Ha! Caught mid entertain mode.
So we’ve had a major case of cabin fever recently.
Why?
It’s been SO cold here in Minnesota.
Now, I normally make an effort to not complain about the cold weather since I live here by choice, but…
You guys.
It was colder than Antarctica a couple of weekends ago. I’m not kidding.
So. A little complaining?
Also, major cabin fever.
Obviously, we haven’t wanted to take Kit out too much in this weather, but we just got to a point where we had to.
So we bundled her up and took a trip to the conservatory and I’m so glad I did.
I actually really love winter, but there are times when I just NEED green in my life and I’m so thankful for a place like our local conservatory that gives us that outlet.
And it was so fun to see Kit this time around because she is actually able to notice what’s going on.
She LOVED the fish and turtles. She kept asking if she could have them (by signing please), which was pretty funny.
“Um no, Kit, we can’t hand you the fishies, but here’s your water!”
Ha!
Anyway, we’re all feeling a little more refreshed after getting out and it’s even going to be a high of 34 on Sunday.
Score!
How do you guys avoid cabin fever when it gets so viciously cold? Let me know in the comments below!
Until next time,
How cute is Kit!? Adorable. It doesn’t get THAT cold here but we are at the point where it’s freezing and snowing occasionally. After we made 20 batches of cookies and watched every movie on Netflix we also go out to ‘indoor’ places. There’s a really cool indoor playground and our favorite zoo has an indoor jungle, desert and ocean which is super fun!

Thank you love! We have been doing a ton of mall playgrounds lately because they are free haha! That’s a great idea to make cookies thought! We’ll have to do that this week. 🙂
I’m in Minnesota too and it’s been pretty cold recently. One day this week it got up to 20 and I was like, “This is balmy!” I took my pup outside without a coat on. It was nice! 🙂
Haha! I totally know the feeling! We’re hearty folk, us Minnesotans. 🙂
What a great idea! That’s a wonderful way to get some outside love while inside!

Thanks Kari! We try to be as creative as possible. 🙂
It’s been insanely cold here in Michigan too and I’m trying to grow a little plant in my apartment just to help get a little more greenery and LIFE into my place!
Yes to plants! I love having them inside in the winter!
Thankfully it hasn’t been too terribly cold here in Chicago yet (in the 20s) but, as a Los Angeles girl experiencing her first-ever real winter, I’ve been experiencing major cabin fever. What a beautiful conservatory, though! I’ve been craving green too, so my husband and I bought a whole plethora of indoor plants. Oh. And Kit is probably one of the cutest children in the world. 😉 Have a lovely weekend!
oooh I feel your pain! When I first moved to Minneapolis I was such a baby about the cold! And thank you! We think she’s pretty cute too, but we’re a little biased. 😉
looks like fun! we have a botanical garden in Vancouver and you just reminded me to visit.
I hope you have fun! We love visiting ours.
Great idea to go to the conservatory! We love to pull out the board games, our favorite is scrabble.
I love scrabble too! I just can’t always convince my husband to play because he gets annoyed that I win haha!
I love your scarf….so cute with that gray casual dress! I never used to like plaid, but it’ growing on me..I just bought a plaid shirt, and I’m 50!
Valerie
Thank you Valerie! And I’ll bet you rock that plaid!
Aw, she’s adorable! What a fun way to avoid cabin fever! We love board games or crafting – a great way to keep the kids entertained! Happy Friday xxx
Visiting a nature conservatory when it’s cold outside is an excellent idea! When my husband was a child he and his family lived near the Antarctic and there were a whole lot of indoor and outdoor activities going on to keep four young children entertained. You have a beautiful family. Thanks for sharing your Sunday adventure. 🙂
Awww, Kit is SUPER CUTE! 🙂 I wish we had a conservatory here in Alaska but we don’t. We have a botanical gardens – haha – doesn’t do much good during the winter! We do a lot of going to the movies and bowling. 🙂
Getting out when it’s cold always helps. Even thought it’s hard to make it off the cough with comfy blankets!
can i borrow some of those? (we’re supposed to get snow all weekend) 🙁
Fabulous boots!!
That looks like such a lovely place! Very photogenic 🙂 We’ve just had a few inches of snow and after a pretty much snowless winter I’m not complaining! Cold is fun, if it doesn’t last too long. I’m always imagining myself in a cute house sitting by the fire with a hot chocolate in hand…that’s how I battle cabin fever, hehe. Or by just getting fed up with the cold and going outside anyway. Or watching Grey’s Anatomy. It helps.

Beautiful pictures and I love your outfit!! Minnesota sounds cold, but what a great idea to get outside your house and still explore even in the chill.
Omg loving your outfit!!! That scarf is to die for
