I think this outfit is the epitome of my style (at the moment).
Big, slouchy sweater tucked into skinny jeans with comfy sneakers.
I know I mentioned this in my capsule wardrobe reveal, but I have a fair amount of tennis shoes and denim in my capsule.
Probably more than the average capsule.
Here’s the thing:
When I first started doing capsule wardrobes I filled my capsule with pieces that “should” be in a capsule.
Of course these “shoulds” were all in my head… they were mostly my faulty conclusions after looking at what other people were putting in their capsules.
But I would fill each category thinking that by doing this I would have the most versatile wardrobe ever.
What ended up happening?
I wore the same few pieces in each capsule over and over again.
What were these pieces?
My casual, comfy pieces that worked for my lifestyle.
I mean, I loved all of the pieces in each capsule but they just didn’t all work for my lifestyle.
So this capsule I decided to screw the rules!
Instead of having a pair of shoes for each category I just added all of my tennis shoes.
Instead of having skirts and dresses, I just filled my capsule up with denim.
And already, less than a month into this capsule I already find that I’m getting wear out of my entire capsule instead of the same three pieces over and over.
So here’s my encouragement to you:
ask yourself “what are the pieces I wear over and over?” and “what are the pieces that I almost never wear?”
And if you’re building a capsule for the first time, just include more of the first category and less of the second category.
Easy right?
So tell me: what pieces do you wear a lot and what pieces do you never wear?

Until next time,
I wear pants majority of the time, rarely wear skirts or dresses. But sometimes I like to shake things up, so I keep a few of those items available. But mostly, I stick to jeans.
Yup! Same here. 🙂
