So… I’ve been reading Marie Kondo’s book,ย The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up.ย
I know. A Capsule Wardrober reading that book. How original. You must be shocked and amazed!
Okay I joke. I’m only half way through and to be honest I’m not finding it to be overwhelmingly useful. Though to be fair, I have always been a fairly organized person and am okay with throwing things out if they are no longer serving a purpose.
BUT, there is one thing that she talked about SO briefly that I thought was absolutely brilliant!
I’m talking about the section where she talks about thanking your clothing. Sounds a little odd right? Here is what she says:
When you come across something that you cannot part with, think carefully about its true purpose in your life. Youโll be surprised at how many of the things you possess have already fulfilled their role. By acknowledging their contribution and letting them go with gratitude, you will be able to truly put the things you own, and your life, in order. In the end, all that will remain are the things that you really treasure. To truly cherish the things that are important to you, you must first discard those that have outlived their purpose.โ
I just really love that! I find it so hard to get rid of things sometimes because I regret that I can no longer use them.
But in this method, acknowledging that they are, in fact, a part of your story allows you to get rid of them with grace and gratitude.
How perfect is that?
Well. Speaking of moving on. Can you believe it’s almost time for me to change to my Winter Capsule?? I can’t.
I’m actually going to be making the switch next week, but I’m not going to share it with you until the first week of December.
Why?
Well, I have a few items I’m still thinking of getting, but I want to see if I can get them at a discount with all of the Black Friday sales going on. I’ll share it with you as soon as I have it all together.
And if you are in the midst of planning your winter capsules, don’t forget to subscribe so you can get my free capsule planning guide! I also include a bonus travel guide for those of you who will be traveling for the Holidays.
Alright… I feel like I just rambled at your for this entire blog post (I may or may not be watching Revenge on Netflix while I type this…#multitasking).
Until next time,
