Anyone else loving the trends forecasted for 2019?
I am!
Which is refreshing for me because the last few years of trends have been duds for me…
off the shoulder everything? Cold shoulder?
Not my thing.
And while I will always gravitate towards simple basics, I love when trends make available fun versions of those basics.
With that said, I don’t love the idea of ever spending a ton of money on trend items, but I also don’t love the idea of buying trend items from fast fashion retailers.
Thankfully trends have a way of being circular, and finding trendy pieces via secondhand outlets is fairly easy.
With that in mind, and with a list of trends I’d like to add to my closet I’ve been hitting the thrift stores lately… and the thrift stores have not disappointed!
Thrifting for quality, vintage or new pieces does take a bit of patience…
but if you stick it out (and stick to your original goal), it can be really rewarding.
And while in store thrifting is always my first choice, online secondhand options like eBay, Poshmark, or even Etsy for vintage are also great alternatives.
So the trends that I’ve been searching for are:
leopard print (I really wanted a skirt… which I found! Yay!)
a teddy bear coat… this is one thing I’ve been going back and forth on because overwhelmingly they seem to be made out of polyester (a fabric that’s really bad for the environment). BUT ultimately I decided that I was okay with thrifting this coat because I rarely wash my coats, plus it (potentially) keeps it out of a landfill.
90’s flats or heels
Menswear inspired trousers
an oversized coat
Dad sneakers (a trend which is either loved or hated ha!)
