Storq Maternity Haul/Try On

*Updated on 9/5 to say:

I had thrown around the idea of updating you all on what pieces I ended up utilizing the most so that you could have a better idea about what pieces are worth the investment so…

The pieces I wore the most were the tank and the dress… with the dress being the CLEAR winner. I wore it so incredibly often, and I think I’ll continue to wear it in future. It was just the perfect amount of “tightness” where I felt like I could move around with my three girls, and feel like I was wearing something cute. I’m a big fan, and I highly recommend it.

I also wore the tank a bit, but I found dresses to be much more comfortable overall.

The jumpsuit I wore once (basically for the reasons listed below, and the skirt I wore twice (I just found the dress more comfy, and the skirt a little redundant). The leggings once as well (they were really comfy, but I get really sensitive skin when I’m pregnant and the fabric of leggings tends to irritate my skin so I didn’t really wear leggings at all).

SO. With that in mind, I’ve decided to gift all of the pieces (besides the dress) to one of you guys. Just leave a comment on this post with your due date, and your e-mail address. I may not get around to responding right away (just depends on when this little guy decides to come), but the giveaway will close on September 25 (my due date).

Alright, back to the original post:

First of all, I kind of hate that the title of this post is maternity haul/try on. Haul’s kind of make me cringe… but I couldn’t really think of a better term for today’s post so I went with it.

Just thought I’d throw that out there. 😉

In actuality, Storq was kind enough to send me a handful of their maternity clothes when they found out I was expecting. They didn’t ask for a post in return, but I thought it would still be fun to do a little maternity haul/try on for you guys.

I’ve mentioned before that I’m trying to get away with not having to buy a ton of maternity clothes BUT I do like to invest in maternity basics. My thoughts are that if I have a few comfortable and versatile base pieces then I can get away with wearing my other non maternity clothes the rest of the time.

Even though you are only pregnant for a short while, I do think it’s important to feel comfortable.

I had actually been eyeing some of the Storq offerings before they reached out to me, so I was happy to accept their generous offer. I do know that their pieces are a bit more than the Target maternity section so hopefully this try on will help you decide if their pieces are worth the purchase (in my opinion: some are, some aren’t)

Storq ethically produces their products in the USA and China, and they try to use eco friendly or natural fibers when possible. There aren’t many pregnancy/nursing specific companies (that I’ve been able to find) that are ethical so if shopping ethically is important to you, and you are pregnant, I’d definitely check them out.

So let’s get on to the maternity haul/try on:

They sent me their four piece basic bundle which includes their leggings, pencil skirt, t shirt dress, and white tank top. It retails for $250

+ their studio jumpsuit which retails for $105

I’m wearing everything in a size 2. I’m 5’5″, my pre-pregnancy weight was 130, and my pre-pregnancy size was a 4/XS,S.

These two pieces are the first two pieces in the four piece bundle.

The pencil skirt I LOVE. It’s really stretchy and soft and it stays put over my bump. I love that it allows me to wear some of my pre-pregnancy tops since it’s high waisted. I also love that it hits right at knee length so it’s really flattering. If you work in an office setting this would be perfect, but it’s also really nice for casual wear as well.

The tank I’m not as sold on. I think if I worked in an office it might be nice because the material is a bit more “cami” like. But for everyday wear it’s a bit too substantial for my taste. To be fair, it DOES really suck you in, and if I wasn’t pregnant during warmer months I might appreciate it a bit more, but I prefer lighter, cotton tank tops when it’s hot.

Another piece in the four piece bundle is the leggings. I really like these. They are soft, thick enough that they smooth over “bumps”, and you can’t see your underwear through them. They have a full panel at the top so they do stay really secure. One thing to note about these though is that if you’re really short, you’ll for sure need the petite size as they are really long and the panel is also super long.

This dress is my favorite piece from the whole package. It’s thin, but not see through, it’s stretchy and soft, and it’s so comfortable to wear. I find the length really flattering, and I love that it has short sleeves. I also find the neckline to be flattering as it’s in between a crew neck and a scoop neck. I don’t prefer v-necks, but I find that a lot of pregnancy clothes have v-necks. If you were going to purchase one item I would recommend this one.

So I saved the jumpsuit for last because I’m just not sure what to think about it. This is actually one of the pieces that I was considering purchasing before they sent it to me so I love the idea of it. BUT it really doesn’t flatter me at all. First of all, it’s SUPER long so if you’re shorter than my 5’5″ height it’s going to be way too long for you. Second, I find the material to be pretty clingy so it accentuates any lumps you may have (see first picture). I also wish it had wider straps because I’d like to wear a normal bras with it, but I’ll admit that’s just personal preference. I do think once my bump is a lot bigger the length issue may be resolved, but we’ll see. I DO really like how comfortable it is. It honestly feels like pajamas so I’ve actually worn it a bunch for lounging, and I did figure out a hack for making it a bit more flattering/the right length…

I took the sash from my Hackwith jumpsuit, and the jumpsuit instantly became more flattering. Yay! I do think this jumpsuit would look great on someone taller without the sash, but I think my torso is too short to pull it off. But I DO really like how it looks with the sash. But once again, we’ll see how I feel when my bump is a lot bigger.

So to sum it up: the dress, skirt, and leggings are worth the investment and the jumpsuit and tank top are only situationally worth the investment. Like I said above, if I had to recommend one piece above the others it would definitely be the t shirt dress.

So there you have it: a little maternity haul/try on. Has anyone tried anything from Storq?

I can’t vouch for the quality yet but I just got a dress from Mother Bee Maternity (https://motherbeematernity.com/). It fits great and looks like it will work for maternity and beyond. Many of the items they sell are made in Southern California and the prices are affordable.

Hi Karin! I found your site earlier this year when I started to transition my closet and style to longer lasting and higher quality clothing-then I found out I was pregnant. Its our first so I don’t have much in the way of clothing that currently fits or an idea of what will work. I have found your posts so helpful and inspiring this summer! I am due Jan. 16. I love the jumpsuit silhouette! A tee underneath would bring it into the fall. These pieces look excellent for post partum as well- thanks for the review. I’m due Nov 10.

Looks like I’m late, but maybe not!!! I absolutely love your style. My due date is March 4th, so still relatively small bump wise. Same pre-pregnancy size as you as well! Thanks

Although $250 is on the higher end, but the pencil skirt is adorable!
