Overall, our Florida trip was surprisingly relaxing.

I was honestly a bit afraid before we left that I was going to be stressed the whole time, and end up not enjoying it.

The joys of being a high stress personality… sigh.

But before we left I gave myself the assignment to repeat a mantra any time I felt myself starting to wind up: “I will not be stressed on this trip, I will relax and have a good time.”

And for the most part, it really did help me. There were moments…

most of them in Disney World, but I really tried to enjoy time with my family without thinking and worrying after things that are mostly out of my control.

And I needed a stress free trip… I needed some time away from the piles of things that keep me from relaxing at home.

I tried to stay off of my phone as much as possible, and we only turned the TV on once. I just wanted a chance to detox from technology and enjoy moments as they were happening.

I read two entire books you guys! TWO.

And that’s all thanks to David who brought the girls back to the cottage for nap time so I could stay out on the beach a bit longer and read. By myself. Did you catch that? BY MYSELF. It was heavenly.

We quickly found our routine while we were there: breakfast, beach with my family, lunch, naps (reading for me!), dinner with my family, more beach… walking for the non kidded adults and supervising splashes in the tide pools for the kidded adults.

What a happy time!

Spending ten whole days filling up on the beauty and power of the sea was just what this heart needed.

I’ll share more photos over the next couple of weeks. Would you care to know what I packed? I can share if you want! Just let me know in the comments below.

Until next time,

Karin

I have a lot of family in Florida so I enjoy when we go. We went last year but drove from WI to FL and that was rough. Ha!

We were going to drive and I’m so glad we didn’t! It would have been similar… we’re in Minnesota. Kudos to you ha!
