3 Utility Pant Styles from Everlane: a Detailed Review

This post is a paid collaboration with Everlane- long time readers know that I’ve been a fan of Everlane for almost as long as my blog has been in existence (almost 10 years… crazy!), and I’ve done countless unpaid reviews of their clothing over the years including my most viewed blog post of all time, my Everlane Denim Guide (which I still regularly update). Ive always loved their minimally sophisticated style and the fact that they take sustainability into consideration when producing their clothing, and I know you guys love them too! It’s always such an honor and pleasure to get to collaborate in an official capacity with a brand I already love to share with you guys and s on o thank you Everlane for sponsoring this post, and thank you guys for your continued support for even making it possible in the first place for me to get to work with brands like Everlane. ❤️

I’m excited for today’s review because it’s been awhile since I reviewed any of Everlane’s pant styles, I typically stick with their jeans as I mentioned above, but today I’m going to to review three of their utility pant styles and let you know what I think. Utility pants are really trendy this fall and winter so if you were ever going to try out a pair this would be the time to do it, but I do love that all three of these styles are a lot more subtle than some of the other styles that I’ve seen which make me feel more comfortable as a 40 year old 😆.

More and more I see inspiration for outfits on Pinterest and I’m like, but wait, she’s 23… how would that look on someone in their 40’s who still got a similar style vibe. That was a lot to say, these Everlane utility pants are like the 40 year old version of a more mature version of a Pinterest photo… I’ve lost you haven’t I? 😂 Let me just show you.

Version 1: the Utility Barrel Pant in a size 4R

I’ll be honest, I’ve shied away from barrel pants until now because the more exaggerated versions I’ve seen just feel like too much for someone my age (and I’m not judging anyone who likes them who is my age, that’s just a personal preference). I tried them on at one point and they made me feel like I was wearing a costume. BUT I really love this pair from Everlane, they are the perfect amount of barrel without getting crazy so I feel on trend without feeling like I’m trying too hard. And I love the navy color especially… I think that color in particular gives them a timeless feel that juxtaposes the trendiness nicely. One thing I’ve always loved about Everlane’s utility pant collection is how substantial the material is. It is quite thick and has a good weight to it. Most of my other pants are more thin and drapey so I like having the option of a more structured pant that keeps its shape. It does have 2% Elastane in the material (the rest is cotton) so there is some stretch to it, but because of the weight to the material the stretch is the cherry on top making these pants extremely comfortable. Plus that extra stretch gives you the right amount of support in all the right places making them really flattering in the waist and butt. 😉 I’d go up a size for extra comfort – lately I’ve been wearing a size 25 and I got these in a 4R. They’re perfectly roomy without me needing a belt. But if you want a more cinched in effect, I’d go for your true size. And for length to height reference – I’m just a little under 5’5”.

Version 2: the Utility Straight Leg Pant in a size 4R

Now if you are someone who just absolutely canNOT get behind the barrel leg pant style, these are the pants for you. They give a similar vibe, but are a classic straight leg cut which goes with just about anything. I got them in black because it’s such a versatile mix in toy wardrobe, but they come in so many colors (as do the other two styles I’m showing you today) – these would make great work pants for all my 9-5 friends or for any of my stay at home mommas out there who aren’t a fan of jeans, these would make a great level up option from leggings. The material is exactly the same as the barrel leg so it’s that same thicker, stretchy fabric which makes them extra comfy.

Version 3: the Utility Wide Leg Pant in 4R

I’m a sucker for a good pair of wide leg jeans and I LOVE that these are full length. I have other pairs of wide leg pants, but having a pair of this weight and length will be perfect for colder weather. I would say of all three pairs of pants, these seem to run slightly bigger so I’d for sure go with your regular size with these. All three styles are really versatile for styling. I love that you can dress them up for work or a date, but I’ll definitely be wearing them during the day when I’m hanging out with my kids because of how comfortable they are – I think they’ll look really cute with casual button downs and sneakers, hoodies, and long sleeve tees.

Karin
