Okay you guys. Story time (can you tell I talk to babies all day long?)!
These boots.
I shared this story ages ago on my Instagram stories, so you may have already heard it, but
I have wanted a pair of these boots for several years now.
It’s a totally personal choice, but I try to limit the amount of new and shiny leather that I buy, which means that about 90% of my shoes are thrifted.
I knew I wanted a pair of lace up boots, and they weren’t super necessary so I decided to just hold out until I could find the perfect pair second hand.
Then one night, about 18 months after I began my search, I found this beauty of a pair in my favorite thrift store.
I quickly snatched them up, tried them on, did a happy dance in the aisle because they fit perfectly, and brought them to the register.
One little problem: they didn’t have a price tag. No problem though right?
Price check!
Yeah no. It was late on a Sunday night and no manager was in house so they couldn’t do a price check. And so she told me they couldn’t sell them to me.
I thought she was kidding! But when she apologized profusely and didn’t put them back on the counter it finally hit me. And then I felt like an idiot because I started crying… over shoes (in my defense, I cry at everything). That poor girl.
She told me they couldn’t hold them, but she told me they would be put back out on the floor on Tuesday.
You better believe I was back in that store on Tuesday morning! And there they were… with a bright shiny light from heaven shining down around them.
In that moment, I knew they were meant for me.
This is more an entertaining story than anything, but there is a hidden lesson here I think.
Sometimes it’s okay to wait. And sometimes even when it seems like it’s never going to work out… it just will.
Are we talking about shoes still?
