Last week when we went to the library we picked up this book. One of the adventures that the chicks go on in the book is a blueberry muffin picnic and so all week Kit kept asking to go on a blueberry muffin picnic.

So yesterday while Rosie and Ella were sleeping we baked some muffins (we used this recipe)… Kit helped with the pouring and the mixing and she was so proud! Although I had to stop her from shoveling handfuls of flour into her mouth several times (she’s a little weird sometimes).

Then after the babies were up I set up the picnic on our deck. We used the fancy china and (plastic goblets) and ate our blueberry muffins and drank apple cider.

It was so sweet you guys! Kit was so careful with her muffins and apple cider and sat there acting so proper.

The best part is that it took minimal work and it didn’t cost anything.

I think it’s easy to get caught up in this notion that our experiences are enhanced by spending money… or buying more of something.

But they’re really not. Our experiences have nothing to do with what we own, but the people we spend them with.

I could tell that what made Kit the happiest about the picnic was that she was doing something special with me.

So its not about spending money, it’s the feeling we get when we’re with people we love.

I’m realizing that when I create space and balance in my day it’s easier for me to create these little memories.

And that brings me to why there isn’t a weekly three today. I have actually decided to put a hold on videos for a while, which means my weekly three will meld into Friday’s post.

I’ve enjoyed doing them, but there always seems to be some sort of technical difficulty and the set up takes a while and well… they just take a lot of time.

But we’re entering a season that’s supposed to be about warmth, and coziness and togetherness and in order to create those things in my home I need to say no to something.

It’s easy for this time of year to fill up with activity and busyness, but I want my girls to grow up remembering blueberry picnics, and autumn leaf walks, and cozying up under a blanket with some hot cocoa… all things that can’t happen if we’re constantly running or I’m too exhausted to think creatively.

So now you tell me: what are your favorite fall activities? Let me know in the comments below because I’m excited to start planning some fun things for the girls to do!

Until next time,
