New York City Travel Capsule

Yay!

I’m so excited to start sharing some New York City travel posts!

I’ll be doing three total… just enough to keep you interested without you getting sick of them. Or maybe that’s wishful thinking. Maybe you’re already sick of them before I’ve even started!

Ah well. I’m forging ahead anyway.

A lot of you asked for me to share what I packed and I am more than happy to start off by sharing my travel capsule with you. For me, half of the fun of traveling is what I pack to wear and what better to place to pack for than New York City?

But as you can see from the picture above, I really tried to pack light because I have been “that” girl lugging her huge checked luggage down the streets of New York City and I was just not into that this time.

And here’s a real shocker: I packed all neutrals. But you know why? Because I wanted easy, low maintenance, goes with everything clothing.

What do you think? What would you pack for a long weekend in New York?

Until next time,

Signature

  1. Love it. Super versatile with a little edge!
I love packing for trips, planning what to wear and trying to work the number of items down. But coming back home and unpacking…ugh. I could do without that… 🙂

  2. What I would pack for a weekend in NYC would be pretty darn close to what you’ve packed. Everything goes with everything else. I love neutrals. I love how you have the scarf/bandana with a pop of color. Perfect! Thanks for sharing. I don’t ever get tired of your posts. I find them very inspirational.

  3. I love how everything is of similar colors with the accessories being where you can get some added color! I always find that makes packing for travel SO much easier since you can just mix and match!

  4. When we go to NY, it’s always on business so I have to pack for meetings and parties. I’ve learned to bring comfy walking shoes that fit in my bag so that I can swap with wedge heels. One nice jacket, black leather leggings that can work for day/night swap because sometimes we don’t have time to go back to hotel. I hope to go to NY for fun sometime so that I can just kick it in my trainers all day!!!

    1. It sounds like you’ve got a great system! It’s funny because I could have totally gotten away with my converse. 🙂 By the end of the day I wore my boots, my feet were screaming at me and it made me realize that they were totally unnecessary!

  5. I love it! I would have stuck to neutrals as well to make it simple and easy to decide once I got there. Thanks for sharing and I look forward to your next NYC post 🙂

  6. How fun to be in New York! I have also been that girl to over pack and end up not using half of what I packed. You did so well! I’m off to Chicago this weekend and only bringing a carry-on… we shall see how that works out! Thanks for sharing!

  7. Neutral is essential if you’re packing light – everything kind of has to go with everything else. Hope you had a lovely trip.

  8. I’m so glad that gray has become a wardrobe staple. It’s probably my favorite neutral, and since it is sweltering hot where I live, black is usually not an option.

  9. I love the choice of clothes… I totally overpacked last time I was in NYC. I’ll make sure to remember your ideas next time I’m traveling ?
