I thought I would do something a little different and show you two outfits that are basically the same thing: one today and one on Friday. Style suicide for a fashion blogger right?? Well being that I am a capsule wardrobe fashion blogger I thought it would be helpful for you to see a couple of ways to wear the same outfit, but still look like you are wearing something different. Today, I give you the jean jacket option. This plaid shirt has gotten a lot of wearsย and I’m sure it will continue to do so. Plus, we all know how I feel about my converse… #obsessedmuch? On Friday, I’ll show you how to switch it up by adding a different top layer.
One thing that I am finding that I really love about doing a capsule wardrobe is that it really helps refine your sense of style.
When I had a lot of unnecessary clothing there were things that I kept in my wardrobe just because I “should” (according to whose rules exactly??). For example, regular blue skinny jeans, a.ka. jeggings.
Side note: my husband was really proud when he learned that word… ha!
For whatever reason I prefer the look of black skinny jeans to blue ones. Even so, I’ve always owned a pair of blue skinny jeans just because you “should”, but I rarely ever wear them.
So I’m playing around with the idea of not having a blue pair in my winter capsule and just seeing how it goes to actually not have them. It’s one thing to say I don’t want them while I still have the security blanket of having them you know?
Having a capsule wardrobe really makes you confront the things that you wear just to check an item off of a list. Why? Because having such a small amount of clothing to work with you definitely notice what you reach for often and what you don’t.
Do you have any clothing like that? That you put in your closet just because you “should?” Let me know in the comments below!
Until next time,
